I assume everyone here is following the Royal Family on Facebook - but in case you are not, I highly recommend it. "The British Monarchy" has an excellent page, and they do a great job of posting all the latest news and updates, including tons of up-to-the-minute pictures of recent appearances and engagements, plus video.

For those who worry about privacy on FB, do note that if you make comments on their posts, they are searchable online, even if your own FB account is not.

Saw this coming up on NBC in the USA.
Don't know if this program will be informative or just speculative but FYI:

W/the GPF on the weekend we all forgot something *very* important, although w/the excellent skating it was understandable, and that was The Annual Nobel Prizes Ceremony and Gala in Sweden and Norway. In Sweden, this is a full out White Tie, Orders and Tiaras event and for the first time during her Pregancy, Crown Princess Victoria looked amazing IMO on night one!!! So did her Mother.

Order of Splendor ~ Royal Fashion Awards ~ The Nobel Prizes 2011 ~ Part 2 (http://orderofsplendor.blogspot.com/2011/12/royal-fashion-awards-nobel-prizes-2011_11.html)

Okay...For night one, what in the name of everything holy was Grand Duchess Maria Teresa thinking!?! For someone her size, that dress just out and out wrong!! And on so many levels too. Then for her to look like if she just tilted her head a titch one way or the other, and not by a whole lot either, that amazing tiara would end up flying off her head and rolling down the floor? Just...Words fail me.

Night two was a bit better, but anything would have been better after the out and out disaster of night one for her.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit looked amazing for the day one ceremony. Love the outfit, but especially the scalloping edges on the skirt. The less said about her Evening Gown later that night though, the better I think.

And then her Day Two concert dress...Va va VOOM!! As is said over there, it would have been an even more amazing look if Mette-Marit had put up her hair, but it was still a fantastic turnaround from the night before.

Queen Silvia's wearing my very favourite colour, bright jewel Royal Blue and it is stunning on her. A very good weekend for HM fashion wise IMO.

And then there's CP Victoria...Oh Victoria...That stunner of the night before just didn't carry over to Day Two. When you're carrying big, you need to stay away from lace covered dresses, as it just does not work!! At least she wore her Order sash up high, so it's not a repeat of what Grand Duchess Maria Teresa did the night before, but...Still a let down considering how she looked the night before.

And is it just me or could Prince Carl Phillip actually get away w/passing himself off as Orlando Bloom's twin? Every single time I see a picture of him, I do a double take it's so eerie. At least to me it is.

And Princess Madeleine looked wonderful at the Ceremony in NYC. I want her coat we see in that first picture.

Anyway, there's the links. Looking forward to the discussion after the rest of you see those pictures. :D

Maria Teresa's dress wasn't bad in and of itself. She's worn the dress before and looked really good in it. It's the fact that she wore an order sash over it is what killed the look. And I agree about the hair. I feel that if you're going to go so far as to wear a tiara, complete the look by having tiara hair.

Victoria looked stunning the first night! Hate her button tiara though. Wish she would have worn the Leuchtenberg Sapphire (http://orderofsplendor.blogspot.com/2011/12/tiara-thursday-leuchtenberg-sapphire.html) tiara to match the earrings, hair pins and the brooch. The second night wasn't too bad, but anything after the first night was bound to come up wanting.

I saw that, and was confused as to why Prince Andrew was going to India, since that's now an independent nation. But a little investigation on Wiki has taught me that
Under [the] London Declaration, India agreed that, when it became a republic, in January 1950, it would accept the British Sovereign as a "symbol of the free association of its independent member nations and as such the Head of the Commonwealth".

If Charles/Camilla decided to come to Edmonton, I'll go try and go see them, just to see her... she seems like she has an awesome sense of humor, Charles I couldn't give two hoots about... :shuffle:

Is it me, or did Edward and Sophie get assigned the most places to visit? And those in the Caribbean to boot?

Sad not to see Princess Alexandra of Kent on that list, as AFAIK she's still undertaking engagements/representing HM abroad. I'm sure her age has a wee bit to do w/that, but still sad not to see her going somewhere next year.

Now, in honour of the Holidays we all need some sparkle, right?

Order of Splendour asked the readers what their favourite Tiaras were and the top 15 are being "unveiled" as we speak.

Order of Splendor ~ The New Top 15 List Readers Favourite Tiara (http://orderofsplendor.blogspot.com/2011/12/new-top-15-list-readers-favorite-tiaras.html)

Enjoy and have a towel and drool bucket nearby... :D

Oooh! I wonder if the blog that shows all the snazzy royal jewelry will talk about Kate's pieces? I know they're wedding gifts, but still. They're really beautiful!
