Impressive :
Robin Cousins 1993 World Pro - On the frozen pond...lyrics only, no music ! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfzfqDVya_A)

I remember that one. I had made a compilation of Robin Cousins performances. Better copy it to a DVD before the VHS goes bad.

There is one Robin Cousins program that was a fun number, with a lot of footwork/dance- "This guy's got happy feet" (commentator). I absolutely loved it. On my VHS the quality is poor. I have been looking for it on YT, but can't find it. Of course it's harder to find it when you don't even know the title of the song. :lol:It was a pro competion somewhere around 1994-1996, I think. I normally don't like Sandra Bezic, but I loved her comment- "Nobody should be allowed to be THIS talented!"

Robin Cousins did another Satan program besides "Satan Takes a Holiday". He wore all red. I know he did it on one of Elvis's tours and I also saw it on U.S. tv. I think it might have been called "Satan's Little Lamb". I can't find it on youtube but I have it on a recording of a Canadian tv show that another FSUer generously made for me.

Here's one of Robin's greatest programs/performances:

"Satan Takes A Holiday" 1985 World Pro

Thanks to everyone who posted links to videos, and to gkelly for initiating this thread. Unfortunately right now I am too busy with other things to watch all those videos. But this is a wonderful thread to return to when I'll have more free time.

Gary Beacom classic! A poster on youtube mentioned that Dance magazine put Gary on their cover wearing that costume. I didn't know that, but no wonder -- this program is definitely modern dance on ice. Another reason why I'm loving S/S free program this season: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isW3K3zSo0Y
based on Pina, a conceptual dance film honoring modern dance choreographer, Pina Bausch.
Clips from the documentary film, which help explain ideas behind S/S program -- fantastic bringing the modern dance angle to pairs skating!

^^ Thanks skatesindreams ... that is certainly modern dance on ice in the form of ice dance, which we would never see in today's ice dance due to rules changes. Maybe with some creativity and ingenuity on the part of ice dance choreographers, (like Steuer does for S/S pairs free this season), there might be a way to incorporate elements of modern dance in today's ice dance, w/o breaking the rules.

Well, you would never see props in eligible ice dance competition under 6.0 rules either.

Modern dance as a style of movement, as opposed to ballroom or ballet, for example, is perfectly legal.
