I had wondered why Orlamdo, with all its' facilities and advantages for visitors, had never gotten another event. I think I know why, now.
What an embarrassment!

I vote for Fargo, ND. :sekret::shuffle:

I'm all for that! The Fargodome would be a great place to host it. :cheer:

Skate America location has been announced the last few years somewhere between late January and mid March.

Here is an article that might shed light on some of the challenges in Orlando:

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/1992-01-12/news/9201110176_1_varney-figure-skating-orlando

That article sounds like the beginning of a trainwreck. Poor guy!

Maybe the tourism bureau didn't think they needed to get behind anything other than Disney and the other theme parks?

I don't follow the Candian Federation.

Last year Skate Amerca was announed in the late spring

Just because Canada gets organized, doesn't mean the US is.

It's a reasonable question! It's just that the USFS really belives "it doesn't matter what we do fans will put up with it!" (Looking at the Skate America attendance brings that thought into question) They fail to realize that "planning ahead" would allow fans to plan to. Just look we now know where 2012 Skate Canada is. Worlds' 2013 is selling a pay plan for tickets. USFS has not announced 2013 Nationals.... For a lot of US citizens it's just as easy to go to 2013 Worlds and we have limited funds for skating. If the Canadians are more organized they get the funds..

Wonder why USFS doesn't get this?

I think you are a very wise person. The IT person at USFS just quit out of disgust, as other folk have. Word from a very reliable sourse is that Nats 2014 will be Boston, St. Paul, Greensboro, or possibly Denver.

I sure wish they'd announce it soon. This wait is a little ridiculous, especially for those trying to plan their time off from work this year. :shuffle:

I hope attendance is good this year. Last year had to have been an all-time low. I couldn't believe how empty the sessions were! :slinkaway

^Where was it last year? I forget already. But yes, I agree on wishing they'd hurry it up on the announcement, I want to try to go if it's anywhere nearby!

^Where was it last year? It was in Ontario, CA, east of L.A. I think the location was announced in early March.

Portland 2010 wasn't announced until May, so it could still be awhile!

Thanks, Debbie S! But ugh, I certainly hope that we don't have to wait until May!

Last year, SA and Nationals were both held in the same area. That usually results in lower attendance. I really think the two events should be in different parts of the Country to attract higher attendance. I wish they'd go back to rotating regions as well. But that's my two cents.

I'd vote for Boston. Easy commuter rail transport options and I'd get to sleep at home. :D
