Vivika said - "Scary alert: some judges are trying to recruit new members for the stage, bring the skaters back on the ice."

Well since most, if not all, of the male stalwarts are already participating I take it they are referring to the female skaters? I really don't think this type of show with lady skaters would work anywhere near as well.

On an optimistic note, back in September I had an email conversation with Ekaterina Ivanova of the Tikhonov website and she said

"A new series of TV show starts soon. In the meantime it won't be an ice show, however, all the male figure skaters will be involved. An actual ice show starring the entire team is planned later this season. Both shows will be on Channel One."
So let's all keep our fingers crossed. ;)

I was jokking and actually was refering to Taranda's "proposal" to Yagudin to join his ballet group not that they are planing to involve the girls.
But you are right about the other figure skating show . It will involved the skaters from Ice symphony , Ruslan Goncharov and maybe more skaters. The competition is going to be between the skaters who will exchange partners.

Yes!!! I have been hoping Averbukh would do something like that for a long time.

Lyudmila Gurchenko was one of the reasons for the teary atmosphere.I tried to translate as much as i could:
Poizner said that he couldn’t imagine that anyone could’ve sing this song better than L.Gurchenko. Yagudin said that this was the first moment in his life when such a small art brought so many emotions. Kretova added that she wanted Gurchenko’s version of this song and she felt that she was living someone’s life through the dance.Moskvina said that their number answer the question that was asked at the beginning of the show:”Is it possible to dance along the song?” .She explained that they proved it with all the expressions that this song required:A story about struggling woman whose life is full of thoughts, love and problems and him begging her to live and how everyone was able to see all of this in the performance of the ballerina and the dancer. Vasiliev added that there are moments when you don’t want to talk and that when everything is overwhelmed with feelings you are silent. Navka joked that if Yagudin can’t skate anymore he shouldn’t worry because he already has a profession as ballet dancer. Yagudin answered that Gedeminas Taranda already took him in his group, so his future is secure.:)

For those who are interested i added both versions with translation of the song.

Do you want?

Please, do not die
Or I'll have to die too
Of course, you'll go in heaven at once
But I don’t think that I'm going too
Do you want sweet oranges?
Do you want to hear long stories aloud?
Do you want me to blow up the stars
that won’t let you sleep?

I beg you -just live!
You can see that I live only because of you.
My enormous love
will be enough for both of us.
Do you want to go sailing?
Do you want the newest music?
Do you want me to kill the neighbors
that won’t let you sleep?

I beg you -just live!
You can see that I live only because of you.
My enormous love
will be enough for both of us.
Do you want the sun instead of lamps?
Do you want the Alps behind your windows.
Do you want me to give up all my songs
all my songs for you?

vivika, Thanks a lot for the translation.

It was like a scene in a drama.
How emotional Alexei and Christina expressed!

Zokko!

Thank you so much, Vivika, for the translation, explanation (looks like I wasn't totally wrong ...) and most of all for the lyrics. Now the entire "drama" is easier to understand.

Too bad I cannot listen to the Zemfira-version, because of the stupid quarrel between YouTube and the GEMA, a German music copyright institution ...

Episode 7-Classic in modern arrangements
http://www.1tv.ru/sprojects_edition/si=5842&fi=12477

Somova/Marinin-Violin Concert by Vivaldi
Choreography:Konstantin Semyonov
Marinin said that their number is called” Listening to the silence” and it was mesmerizing to watch them dancing the silence.

Makhalina/Vanagas-"Andante From Concerto In D Minor For 2 Mandolins (Vocal)" - Antonio Vivaldi -Yo-yo Ma, Bobby McFerrin
Choreography:Vladimir Romanovskii

M/V dreaming expectant parents were just delightful.

Obraztsova/Staviski-”Adagio” - T. Albinoni -modern arrangement
Choreography:Yuri Smekalov

I loved the story about the falling and sacrificing angel , but Vasiliev didn’t like the music arrangement and saw the end only as a striptease .Actually Evgenia's skirt was a symbol of her sickness that he takes away at the end .

Perren/Tchernishev- -Piano Concerto-W.A.Mozart
Choreography: Perren and Tchernishev
Another reason to smile. The story of ballerina and skater .Great job TcherPerr .

Arrbuzova/Tikhonov- "Don Quixote: Pas De Deux (Act III)" -Robert Irving,Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Choreography: Radu Poklitaru
Somehow I preferred their humorous interpretation to Yagudin/Kretova‘s brilliant clownery . Tikhonov was great Sancho Panza.

Kretova/Yagudin-”The Barber of Seville” -Figaro's Aria-Gioachino Rossini
Choreography:Radu Poklitaru
Charming buffoonery. Poizner said that he has two reasons to be happy today-first because he finally looks like Yagudin and second because he liked their performance.

Osipova/Kostomarov-"Romeo and Juliet, Op.64 / Act 1: 13. Dance of the knights"-Sergei Prokofiev-Seiji Ozava and Boston Symphony Orchestra
Choreography:Radu Poklitaru

Great interpretation. Osipova was incredible and Kostomarov's performance was almost as good as hers .

Krysanova/Shabalin - “Andante de Concierto de Aranjuez"-Joaquín Rodrigo-Judicael Perroy
Choreographer:Igor Pivorovich
Very nice dance but the judges weren’t satisfied and Vasiliev said the interpretation was banal.

Somova & Marinin are so good it's unreal. The intricacy of that performance and the effortless way they handled it, showed them to be a class apart from the rest. imho. :)

Does anyone know how the competition is going to be resolved? I'm presuming we're fairly near the end as Christmas is approaching. The judges are not really ranking the pairs in any order - giving out lots of maximum scores. Is there just going to be a public vote to decide the outcome?

There is an announcement on Chanel 1 site that the last show is on 12.24.2011 and after all performances it will become clear who is the winner of the project.
Each couple will present a free dance that is going to be their masterpiece. It doesn't say anything about public vote but since all of Averbukh's project had it before i assume this time won't be any different. So the public voice may also play a big role. :)

Vivika, Thank You!
Somova/Marinin are sublime, and Perren/Tchetnyshov are so cool! Peter has such a charisma! He reminds me of Baryshnikov :).
I also liked Vanagas and Shabalin a lot!

It doesn't say anything about public vote but since all of Averbukh's project had it before i assume this time won't be any different. So the public voice may also play a big role. :)The public voting that has been going on since the beginning of the project is for the special viewers award. I also read somewhere that the winners were determined based on the total of marks from all episodes, but I am not sure if that is true, as it was not on the official site. Still - I don't know if you have noticed, but there are pairs who have received only a few (or just one) 80, then there are two pairs who have received several 80 and high marks all the way, and one pair who received 79 just once. The latter are Kretova/Yagudin, of course. Osipova/Kostomarov and Somova/Marinin share the same (second) standing at the moment. So I wait with baited breath to find out who of the two pairs received 79 for their final dance. Although that's quite hard to imagine at the moment .

Truth be told, I think that Somova/Marinin should win, not Kretova/Yagudin or Osipova/Kostomarov. K/Y changed their image just a few times, but their choreographic style has been quite similar in most of the dances. Besides, Yagudin was good from the start, but he hasn't progressed much, imho. O/K have been more versatile, but at the beginning Kostomarov did little in terms of dancing. In later episodes he got to dance more and was quite good, but what he has been doing is very far from ballet - except maybe the last episode, where his and Osipova's dance was more balletic. Somova/Marinin, on the other hand, held their level high all the time. And they are a real pair - not only in life, but also on the dance floor :). And they're not even my favourite pair. Artistically, Makhalina/Vanagas, Perren/Tchernishev and even Obraztsova/Staviski have been a bit closer to me overall. But I know that Vanagas is not the best dancer + he didn't get enough choreography in most dances. Tchernishev is better, but he likes to experiment - both with artistic ideas and technical difficulty, which means that not all of their dances have been successful. Staviski - well, that's where those two factors combine - not the best dancer, and likes to experiment with difficulty :).
