Somova/Marinin and Perren/Tchernyshev do really stand out.

I have enjoyed Peter's work in all of these Russian dancing/skating shows.
I'm very grateful for the videos that have allowed me to see these performances.

"I know, it shouldn't be taken too serious, it's "just" a TV-show after all, but again, can't help, the "competition" in it seems pre-decided, like in all Averbukh-shows before. Obviously this time is Yagudin's turn, he and Kretova have been OK, but not that *great* to deserve all those 10's, IMO"

I think that Yagudin & Kretova are a little different in that they're dancing a more modern "funkier" style than the other couples. Kretova is obviously very versatile and that's being used to best advantage. Somova and Marinin have been excellent so far but I think it's quite hard to compare these two couples because they're really quite different. I suppose it comes down to personal preference. I like them both. :)

I also agree that this time Y/K didn't deserve all 80 points but i think the judges advanced Kristina. She was really good and funnier . Yags overreacted this time. Taranda said that if one day someone decides to do remake of "12 chair" Yagudin would be great for the role of Ostap Bender, but i don't think that anyone will be better than A.Mironov :)).

The comedic type is not really my cup of tea and I prefer the more emotion involved numbers, like the one KY did last week, but yes, Yagudin was good and deserved those marks. Yagudin and Marinin are the only skaters have not been outshined by those professionals so far, they did equally good as the professionals in their rooms, IMO. I feel Marinin has been a bit undermarked though.

Totally agree, Ternichev really stood out for me in the last episode, he can go a long way with this. As for Yagudin, well I enjoyed his performance also and its good they are trying something different far away from ballet such as comedic and other styles because I don't think Yags would be good at the proper classical type movements of ballet.

Yes, they are both good. But I think that at the moment Marinin is the best. He is also quite versatile. He can dance something balletic, as well as other kinds of dance - we saw it in the previous project. Judging by the photos and what eyewitnesses have told, he and Somova danced to the music from 'Pulp Fiction' in the fifth round :).

Well, I only really managed to see a lot of the performances from last weekend on Youtube and I enjoyed Ternachevs flowing movements more as a personal preference. I never saw any of the other episodes though, and I must check out the rest of Marinin's dances because I like versatile performers. I am definitely looking forward to seeing his Pulp Fiction dance as its sure to be interesting! :)

Perhaps its just me, but I think it makes a nice change to watch skaters performing contemporary/modern dance. I wonder will they ever have a show similar to this in North America/Canada? Scott Hamilton dancing Swan Lake perhaps :rollin:

I never saw any of the other episodes though, and I must check out the rest of Marinin's dances because I like versatile performers.Tchernishev's movements are probably naturally more flowing than Marinin's, but here it was also due to the choreography. I have to say that Marinin has not been so versatile in his 'Bolero' dances - I just know that he is capable of it, and hope that his abilities will be used also in this project. And his third dance is his best so far - that's why I said "at the moment''. But the choreography given to Marinin was completely equal with his partner's/wife's, while in Tchernishev's dance his partner still danced the solo part, even though emotionally they played equal roles. But probably Tchernishev is also capable of more.

Perhaps its just me, but I think it makes a nice change to watch skaters performing contemporary/modern dance. It's not just you - I like it too. But I still want to see them also on ice, especially because my favourite ice dancer dancing in this project - Povilas Vanagas - is not the best on the dance floor.

Vanagas is not the best not because he doesnt have the same potential but because like Tikhonov he not always gets the most original choreography/except the Mozart one/. I don't compare him with Tikhonov, who bless his heart, is charming but not the most elegant dancer of all skaters, but for now it looks like they both are the corps de ballet in the project who let the other shine.

The Mozart choreography may have been original, but most of it was Makhalina's. Vanagas did wery little in that dance. Also, in my opinion, the choreography from the third time was even more original (the folklore theme in itself may not seem as something original, but I am talking about choreography here). But again - Vanagas didn't do that much in it. On the other hand, I really liked Makhalina both times - she's very professional and versatile (of course - that's why she is a prima ballerina :)).

:) Well, from where i've seen it all of the choreos were created about the ballerinas but the other way around would be ridiculous .As for the folk theme i would say that it was more interesting than original but for each his own cup of tea.
