Marcel Sturmer's gear was stolen when he and his coach were on their way to the airport, to go to Mexico.

Some guy got in the car, pointed a gun at the coach and she had to leave the car. The car was later found, but all of the stuff was gone: skates, costumes, etc. Fortunetely, no one was hurt.

Neverthless, he went going to Mexico with an old costume and brand new (...and unbroken) skates.

Wishing him all the best.

Too bad Anna Li wasn't sent back from Japan as soon as Marta decided not to name her -- rather ridiculous that she's not getting any chance for international competition right now.

Mexico will play in the four finals of the Squash tournament!

Unfortunately that is not an olympic discipline, we tend to do very will in Squash

Don't forget, Memmel is not on the team anymore. She decided to have shoulder surgery after the training camps rather than risk further damage.

2 gold medals for Mexico in Squash (two more to get)
3 golds for Argentina in Rowing

In half an hour you could watch rhytmic gymnastics finals, trampoline qualification

thus far taekwondo has been very exciting to watch

Over half the players at the recent under 17 world cup in Mexico tested positive for clenbuterol. (http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/news/_/id/7115036/clenbuterol-found-most-players-17-world-cup) 109 out of 208 samples, and players from 19 of the 24 teams. They've declined to prosecute because of strong evidence that the clen came from local food sources.

I wonder if the athletes at the Games are avoiding beef or taking any other food precautions since there is still officially a zero threshold for clen, and someone testing positive could be banned barring an exceptional circumstance like the soccer incident.

Since we get zero coverage here in Asia :(...

I will anxiously wait for the closing ceremony to see the Toronto 2015 handover!!

Congrats to Canada's Men's Dressage Team on their Silver, but especially for qualifying for London!!!

HUGE step forward for the program and can't wait to see them next summer. For once, Dressage will get at least *some* coverage here in Canada instead of a blip on the Equestrian program in a Highlights package.

AFAIK, no coverage here until the weekend on the CBC and w/me on Dial Up...Sigh!! :(

Thanks Fergus for starting the thread. Between here and the CBC Sports website, will make up my following of the Games this time around.

Of course, I completely and fully intend on attending *something* at the next Games in Toronto. :D

Master of Pan-Am right, since chinese usually win gold and silver on both men and women's events at world and Olympics, Japanese men are strong enough to win the bronze.

Oh, c'mon, Domsie! Seriously?

Fun (/ obviously over-broad for effect) comments really can be left alone even when they claim :drama: North American success ... there is no absolute requirement that they be promptly smacked down.

More info on Clenbuterol concerns and the Pan Am games (http://www.swimnews.com/news/view/8982?awesm=awe.sm_5XWSF&utm_campaign=&utm_medium=awe.sm-twitter&utm_source=t.co&utm_content=twitterfeed). Jessica Hardy tweeted this is one reason she chose not to compete.
