Ready for more craziness?

Mustafina said in an interview that she plans on doing the Amanar again and that she has already begun doing some vaulting. Now, she hasn't been throwing Amanars or even DTYs but how on earth is this girl being allowed to vault? WHY? She clearly still has a swollen knee from a big injury and then surgery. You don't need to be doing any kind of vault, what good does it do? You can work on mastering your laid out Yurchenko??? She is dead set on taking herself out before the Games. I am more and more convinced that the Russian federation didn't find the best surgeon or specialist in Germany, they simply found someone who is a "yes" man. If she was experiencing swelling during warmups then she has to have been experiencing the same thing during practices as you practice much harder than you warm up.

I hope Mustafina makes a full recovery and she continues to take it easy until the games. How about Bross? Any word on her recovery?

Or maybe she (and the Russian Fed?) is/are ignoring the doctor's orders.

Are you not over reacting ??? Annia Hatch was back in the gym and vaulting 6 months after she tore her ACL. In mustafina's case she is only doing easier vaults. From Blythe Lawrence (http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showthread.php?p=3366994#post3366994).

Although she was cleared to compete at the Stuttgart World Cup earlier this week by Dr. Michael Strobel, the Munich surgeon who operated on her knee in April, Mustafina withdrew from the World Cup, scheduled to be her first meet back, after experiencing pain and swelling in her knee while warming up for beam.

Strobel cleared Mustafina to compete, but apparently only on the condition that she "felt good and had no problems with her knee," German media were told.

so i don't see how they are ignoring doctor's advice.

Hatch had to do vault or she did not make the Olympic team. I understand the risk she took. It was also clearly her last chance to make an Olympic team. Mustafina has a very legitimate chance to not only make the Olympic team but to get the AA gold medal. Rushing back to vault this early is too big of a risk. Hatch had to begin vaulting and be ready or she wasn't getting any where near an Olympic team.

For anyone who follows NCAA gymnastics:

Ranzy left Oregon and will compete for LSU this coming season. She is a 9.9 on vault and floor so that is a nice pick up for the Tigers!

^ OMFG Quintuple turn on BEAM!!

For me it's sorta like watching a SAW movie - it's so freakishly unreal and screws with my mind and perseption of reality so much that it makes me feel very uncomfortable!!

She was the one doing quad turns on beam in practice last year, when is Ms Fujii going to grace a World Championships? I think this particular skill should have a Z rating. Watch it be a B

You can tell it was a very lucky moment, though. She kind of just came out of it and got really lucky to have her foot land right on the beam. There was another video of her trying but she fell, obviously. I can't imagine anyone would ever get this consistent enough to compete, but some of those quads looked quite controlled and possible to compete.

Just the fact that it can even be done is like the birth of baby jesus to me, holy sh!t. I love this girl and its for only 2 skills  The technique is so textbook, too!

Aly Raisman has gone pro. Huge loss for Florida. I hope this was the right decision. She doesn't have a star personality and her chances for making the Olympic team aren't as high as you would think. With it being only 5 members, she will need an injury or that Amanar. Her lack of value on bars really hurts her because she can't step in for Bross, who would be counted on for a big bars score, if Bross is not able to come back in time. They would substitute Bross with someone like Gabby first.

Yikes, I would think she'd have a great college career. How much was the prize money from Worlds? With Weiber being the "it" girl for USA Gymnastics, and OGMs Liukin and Johnson attempting comebacks, I would think she'd be way down the line for the big money endorsements.

Whatever the prize money was, it doesn't equal a college education or anything even remotely close.

Kelloggs just announced a USA Gym endorsement so maybe she gets to be in ads leading up to Olympic trials? Still.....

There are always endorsements leading up to the Olympics though, that is nothing new or additional to what she could hope to make. If the deal is with USAG then Raisman would only get a portion, anyway.

There is speculation that a tour is in the works if the girls win the Olympic gold. However, even the Mag 7 got a lot less from that tour than they hoped. The tour usually starts out as a 60 city tour then is quickly dropped to well below half of that when tickets don't sell. The gymnasts who go pro are paid per stop. There is a huge difference in pay then from 60 stops to 15 stops.
