From the stories about her behavior at UGA, I don't think she has changed at all. :yikes:

Yeah, I have some :sekret: info that she hasn't changed one little bit and isn't particularly pleasant to deal with.

Shayla hasn't come close to meeting the expectations UGA had when they recruited her. She has stunk it up in competition. What a disappointment.

Isn't she the one who wrote on twitter that she competed at the Beijing Olympics?

Wouldn't surprise me.

:watch: Ah so any juicy bits of gossip from UGA about Shayla?

I do remember her parents donation webpage and how incredibly entitled it seemed. I was glad she didn't get named to the team.

The team competition is 4-3-2 format, but russia has entered 3 gymnasts only. Afanaseva is competiting in AA event. Russia could technically do a 3-2-2 and still win, so musty may just do UB and beam.

I really don't know how wise it is for Mustafina to be competing this early off of her injury, even if she only does an event or two. Obviously, she would have been cleared by her doctors, but I would think that with the Olympics <10 months away, they wouldn't push things too hard.

That is true.
However, with the Olympics 10 months apart she also cannot lose her competitive spirit. If one is too long away from competition maybe one starts overthinking?

I hope that the decision is wise. Up to now it seems to me the Russian coaches were careful with not letting her compete at Worlds although she wanted to etc. So hopefully they know what they are doing!

I think if she only swings bars then no harm is done. I am a little iffy about beam but in reality she can probably do beam so long as she has a watered down dismount. Since the coaches seemed to begin cracking down on her trying to do too much too early then I can only assume she has the all clear now, at least for what they let her compete.

It was confirmed that Mustafina will only do bars and beam, she was cleared by her doctor to compete but no one knows if she will do full difficulty (mainly, dismounts) or not. It has only been 6-7 months since the injury. I know she wants to get back out there but it would be so foolish to hurt herself by coming back to soon for some no name competition. I could understand rushing back for Russian Nationals or the Olympics but what does this competition matter? There are plenty of competitions before the Olympics starting next season.

Mustafina withdrew (http://www.examiner.com/gymnastics-in-national/aussies-dominate-stuttgart-world-cup-qualifications-aliya-mustafina-withdraws) because of issues with her knees in the warmup.

Thank god she withdrew and not pushed herself to continue. I will continue to keep my fingers crossed for her to make a full recovery.

Shes just so impatient she cant help herself.

I wouldn't be surprised if out of all the gymnasts, she wants to be Olympic AA Champion the most. Take it easy Aliya! :yikes:
