Marta was not at Pan Ams. Thank goodness because those girls would be in trouble.

Jay really offended my eyes. The hair was awful and it foretold what her gymnastics would look like. She is a total throw back to the ugly 80's American gymnastics. Not all Americans were like that, but a lot of them were. Trying to power their way through everything.

You´re right, even the name ´Brandy Jean Jay´

I forgot that part. Her name even screams 80's gymnastics. It is unreal!

Men´s qualification is underway

C.J. Maestas had a decent vault

though the coverage will be very tough, canadians, americans, mexicans and Colombia at the same group

later only Brazil and Puerto Rico will be the main contenders

Ouch! Brandon Wynn just had a bad fall on floor exercise, on his third pass he got lost in the air and landed sideways almost with his face, fortunately he seems ok

a bad competition for him thus far, as he oppened with a fall on the vault

C.J. Maestas is having a great meet

And 15.350 for Daniel Corral on parallel bars! what a score!

Hope he can repeat at pommel horse where he is a medal contender

After Sub 1:

1. USA
2. Colombia
3. Canada
4. Mexico

Colombia did a great job! :cheer2: AND it has the current top 2 AA qualifiers, Giraldo and Calvo.

USA's top 2 for AA are Maestas currently in 4th and Wynn in 11th.

Ok, Brazil boys, bring it! :watch:

Daniel Corral rocking on Pommel Horse (15.300) and Paralell Bars (15.350) top qualifier thus far and most likely will be the front runner for the event finals, I hope he can win the gold in one event (two would be great of course)

Sub 2 is 1/2 way thru, Brazil already at 175.3

Brazil looking VERY solid in these final rotations. :watch:

If my calcs are correct, Brazil needs a 54.551 total on Floor for gold.

Brazil, Puerto Rico, USA final result. Congrats to the teams! :)

Would've been cool to hear La Borinquena but oh well.

I know Shawn fell twice on beam and that sucks but it's nice to see she upgraded her bars set to a 5.9 SV. If she brings the double-double back I could see her taking Aly Raisman's place as the "rock-solid" AAer Marta likes to have on the team.

^ I agree with you here. It's also eerie how if Shawn gets her Amanar back how similar of gymnasts her and Jordyn Wieber are. I think Shawn needs to capitalize much more on bars, but good job on getting her SV up to 5.9. I think she's going to need 6.4-6.5 to breath easy, but it's nice to see her already inching up to a 15, her QR set had at least .4 visible deductions.

Bridget looks very labored and uninspired. :( I still refuse to write her off, but geez I was expecting much more than what she showed yesterday.

I agree that watching Brandie Jay isn't the most pleasent experience. Honestly, I find this whole US team to be rather gross.

I have to agree with the sentiments that Brandie looks like a 1980's throwback--I mean, even her haircut screams 1985. I didn't find her routines to be enjoyable to watch either.
When I first saw videos of Jordyn I thought to myself how much she reminded me of Shawn. I do think Jordyn's Amanar is a teeny bit better than Shawn's, although her lock-kneed landings can be scary sometimes. Shawn's was always off-direction and sometimes it wasn't completely round.

I actually prefer Jordyn to Shawn. Oh Shawn definetly has more personality and star quality. But Shawn's whole I never took a dance class till Dancing, bugs he heck out of me.. Jordyn's floor shows she works on those things. And I think Wiebers Amanar is a lot better. Shawn's Amanar most of the time was questionably rotated. Shawn though in someways the better trickster. ( I guess)

Personally I find Jordyn more watchable than Shawn. Shawn always looks so stiff to me, and her FX's... :scream:
