That announcement was a bit premature. The competition hadn't quite finished yet; Mexico still had one rotation left to go. I guess whoever was doing USAG's twitter didn't think Mexico had a chance to overtake Brazil, but yeah, they did, lol.

But... didn't Nastia say she was training bars and beam only...

There was a rumor a while back that Nastia and her father were arguing about what events to train. Nastia has wanted to do floor from the beginning, her father wants her to do beam and bars only. Maybe Nastia won the battle and will have a FX prepared. A 3 event gymnast is MUCH more beneficial on a 5 member Olympic team than a 2 event gymnast. As long as she doesn't over train or suffer a freak injury, she should be OK and training floor may be wise.

Hopefully, Nastia can do a FX with a D-score in the mid to upper 5s. If that's the case and her Beam and Bars are Olympic medal-worthy, then I think she'd be highly beneficial to the team. Smart of Nastia if she could pull all of this off.

If Nastia had bar and beam routines that were Olympic medal worthy I am sure she would be a lock for the team regardless of is she did floor or not. It is not as if the U.S is lacking on floor, a 100% Nastia is far and away better on bars (their greatest spot of need) than any current U.S gymnast though. Still if she can get floor back strong on top of all that all the more power to her.

Floor wont help Nastia make the team but it will be added insurance. Nastia makes the team based on bars and beam. But, what if a lot of the locks begin going down with injury. It is possible that suddenly Nastia has to do 3 events or she can't be on the team. Highly unlikely but not impossible.

I don't think Nastia will make the Olys team.

She has a better shot than all of the returning Olympians, if only one member of the 08 team makes the team thus year I think it'll be her for her UB routine alone. Even if she could only muster 15.2 they would still take her, and she could realistically score up to a point higher.

I did not see her at yesterday´s coverage, there were the girl coaches but no signs of Marta at all

Shawn Johnson had a very decent bars, with a 5.9 Difficulty, she qualified for the event finals on that event individually

Did she upgraded bars???

But she had 2 falls on beam, I saw her beam performance and it had mroe difficult I think that what she did at nationals
