Jordyn's FX has definitely grown on me...it wasn't my favorite, but now when I see it compaired to a lot of other girl's routines, you can see that she pays attention to the music and the beat and PERFORMS. And she has great little choreography pieces that I think are cool; like that twisty thing she does at the very end, lol.

Rooting for Jordyn to take a medal in FX EF's today; goodness knows that she deserves it. She doesn't have a great draw spot, but it'll do.

Has a triple twisting Yurchenko ever been done? And/or is Maroney considering it? I can't believe how much hang time she has on the 2.5.

In interviews, Maroney has said that she's tried TTY into the pit before.

IIRC, wasn't there a men's gymnast that was attempting TTYs recently?

I hope she doesn't ever seriously consider it. The girl is only 15 and already has back problems. Thinking of the type of injuries that could happen while training (and then actually trying to compete and stick) a TTY make me shudder.

Uchimura has tried it in competition.

Universal Sports has started their coverage of the Event Finals from earlier today and what an amazing FX final! No major errors for any of the guys and it came down to landings here and there for the small differences in scores. I'm glad Uchimura won (class of the field), Jake and Steven both hit pretty solid sets, and I also loved Shatilov's reaction to his bronze medal. How fun! :)

Women's vault should be up next. :cheer:

Have watched the event finals except for Rings. So lovely to watch but I can't tell what gymnasts are doing so reduced to going that's pretty or I don't like that.

Can't wait for tonight. I guess I could try to find a stream but meh might just follow the twitter feed and here. Beam looks to be the standout tonight.

I agree. Beam should be a great event and I'm hoping for a close, clean competition. PH was rather messy with a lot of falls and rings was kind of messy too. Hoping the guys bring their A games tonight with a cleaner competition like they did with FX. I'd really like to see Aly win a medal on FX and Jordyn win a medal on beam. Sui has a gorgeous beam routine so I imagine she's the favorite. It starts pretty soon, right?! :)

I thought it didn't start until almost 1.

Yikes, you're right. Thought it was earlier than that for some reason. I guess I won't be able to stay up for this whole thing tonight unless they all perform at lightning speed, LOL

There is speculation that Komova has scratched FX finals, apparently Afan was seen warming up and she was the first reserve. Komova was also seen, though, so maybe it will be a last minute decision and they want Afan to be prepared?

I actually think it makes sense to have Afan do it. She really has my favorite floor of all. Her one dance spin is just so gorgeous. This could be her last chance for a floor medal.

That's too bad for Komova if she did have to withdraw. She's gotta be exhausted by now.

I saw on Twitter a little while ago that Dragalescu may have scratched vault for the men. That would be a huge bummer but I don't want him to get hurt worse than he all ready may be. :(
