On the US National/local level, there are several designers doing a ton of business, and some of it fabulous.

Del Arbour does a lot of work for Becky Bereswill, Caroline Zhang, many of the major US Synchro teams, and others. Quite popular across the Midwest.

Tania Bass has done most of the dresses for Emily Hughes and Sarah Hughes, as well as work across the years for Irina Slutskaya, Miki Ando, Pang/Tong, Michael Weiss, Katrina Hacker, etc. Very big in the Northern East Coast.

Brad Griffies has been growing in business substantially this decade since he started sewing for others. Notable clients: Kimmie M. and recently a couple of Evora/Ladwig outfits (their teal 2010 FS, and I think their purple 2011 FS). I noticed several of his dresses on the radar at nationals these past 2 two years.

Ann Patrice McDonough's mom created some lovely dresses back in the day. Is she still doing work for many of the Broadmoor skaters? I can't figure out who their dress designer is, but there appears to be one person/group who outfits many of the skaters from there. (Basic, safe lines and matching-crystal-overkill seems to be the style).

Russianiceskate.com (Elena?) has been quite popular lately, particularly for Juvenile through Junior skaters.

Does Mare Talbot still create dresses? I remember a few of the ones that she did for Sasha, and a PHI skater that was based in SoCal and they were lovely.

AP's mom was listed as Rachael's dress designer for a long time. She seems to be good at ornamentation, not so much at cut and line.

I always love seeing what the Finns are wearing. They've had some hits and some misses over the years, but they are never dull.

I am wondering- shouldn't this topic be in the Trashcan?

It's a good topic though. I am learning a lot.:)

I think Meryl's mum makes her costumes. She has spoken that they tried to make the Bollywood costume authentic, even the earrings!

I think Meryl and her mum work on the designs but the actual sewing is done by someone in the Canton area. As for the Bollywood costumes, I read in the one article both her and Charlie's costume were authentic Indian celebration clothing that they bought and had modified. The details were amazing. I remember thinking that Meryl deserved a medal for just keeping her balance in those earrings!

Joannie Rochette's costumes were always breath-taking. Anyone know who does Mirai Nagasu's dresses?

According to icenetwork Mirai's biography says "Costumes designed by Tina Allapach and Cecille Phillips" in 2012 season.

Who has designed Alissa C's dresses? It says for 2012 season she is using Jef Billings.

Also, does anyone know who designed/made Summersett/Gilles OD and FD costumes in 2010? I especially like Jane's Peruvian dress (http://www.pbase.com/trilby23/image/124643468)and Todd's FD suit.

Cecille does most of Mirai's stuff, and she does a great job with everything she does. I've been using her since I started back skating, and we're actually working on my outfit for upcoming events/competitions.

I definitely recommend her if anyone is looking for a good designer in SoCal.

Bumping this up. I hope someone asks Alissa Czisny who designed her new SP dress. It's amazing. Some on Twitter did not like the back or the belt but I loved it all.

Alissa SP (http://cache2.asset-cache.net/xc/129995221.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=77BFBA49EF87892155F29F61288AC1CA914FBD8C2FF9851E EDDC6E0F897220D8610AD1AB454274FF)

And my daughter has not stopped talking about Meryl Davis' purple FD dress and mask hairclip. If either were available for purchase, I'd have a tough time not buying them!

Meryl FD (http://cache3.asset-cache.net/xc/129965861.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=77BFBA49EF87892155F29F61288AC1CA4184CEB6056268ED 61B1A0139F352F5618A9C138696B41C3)

Re: Meryl's FD dress...aren't masks part of the storyline of Die Fledermaus? It's been a long time since I've seen DF but would explain her hair piece.

I kind of feel that Meryl's costumes are becoming a bit young for her. Alissa looked lovely, but then she usually does.

I wasn't thrilled with Carolina's dress. That program calls for something darker and maybe more dramatic, IMO.

Yes, the Countess conceals her identity behind a mask. I'm pleased that they incorporated the mask into Meryl's outfit that way.

Surprised no one has mentioned Jan Longmire, she has made some of Sasha's dresses and one for Yu Na and does Andrew Gonzales' costumes.

Some of her dresses for Sasha:

Andrew Gonzales:

http://gallery.ice-skate.net/photos/2011-nationals/senior/men/long/andrew-gonzales/ (i love this so much!)

She also recently designed her daughter's wedding dress. :)

And another fun fact: Keegan Messing's mom draws up the ideas for his costumes and they are then sent off to their designer (forget who, it's a company). They then send her some designs back and she sends back what her and Keegan like and voila!

I am the one against the belt LOL and someone I follow hates the back, but I LOVE the back.

Natella Abdulaeva worked with Tarasova's students, including Yagudin, Kulik, Platov/Grishuk, Arakawa, Cohen. She also created costumes for Kerrs.

Elena Danilova is working now with Volosozhar/Trankov. She also worked with lots of Russian skaters, like Krylova/Ovsyannikov. Vaitsekhovskaya had an article (http://www.velena.ru/skating/comp/2011/WCH2011_2904C.html) about her during Worlds (Russian).

Did Abdulaeva design Yagudin's "Winter" and "Rachmaninov" costumes? I thought both were stunning; the best men's costumes of the season.
