But why was Komova's beam score so low?

She seems to have taken out/missed some of her connections -not really surprising given how tired she looked already at team finals. Personally, I think that Komova was judged quite fairly while Wieber was gifted on BB/FX.

I agree.

Actually, I think Weiber's beam score was fine. She was spot on there.

It makes me mad though that the judges felt the need to gift Wieber. And not Komova who is one of the most gorgeous gymnasts to ever come out of gymnastics. What are they thinking? I'm glad the crowd showed them.

The end result was so close that any gifting or harsh scoring really made the difference.

I hope Vika can get strength out of this instead of giving up. She looked so devastated as only a 16 year old can.
Poor girl.

Anyway good for Yao Jinnan as well for third place. Just a pity she messed up her beam. And Raisman performed very despite a shocking UB to end up 4th. Anyone know what happened with Lopez on UB?

"Jessica Lopez UB - L grip 1/1 and misses the straight jaeger completely. Tkatchev - gienger and misses it completely. Falls on the double front too. Disaster."

I think Viktoria can. Her form here reminds me kind of how Liukin looked in 2007. Komova's a much better tumbler than she showed here in Toyko. Its just she hadn't had a lot of numbers on her routine. She's also capable of upgrading her floor routine too.

bek, Jordyn landed every pass but the OOB one the best she has this competition so far.

I thought Komova had it, but Jordyn got a little lucky and fought. TBH Jordyns bars were bad but i thought she'd score higher (same with Komova BB).

Overall weird worlds competition, but i can see why it went this way. Maybe the most emotional 1st 2nd place finish I've ever seen.

Yao could have become China's first ever World AA champion had she not fallen. :( She showed great spunk in coming back and nailing floor, though, which is very unlike a Chinese gymnast. I'm afraid this may be the last we've seen of Huang.

I feel that Wieber was gifted not only on floor but also on VT where she took quite a big step forward. IIRC, Wieber scored lower on floor in prelims when she had more visible errors today. The scoring is a disgrace.

Komova is the rightful winner in my book. Now Geddert gets to make more smug comments on his blog...ugh!

It should be. That girl is a headcase if there ever was one.

Wu Luifang should've been on the team. Probably in place of He to be fair, but still.

Speaking of He, I don't see how she should ever make another big team. She's a one event gymnast who can't hit that event anymore.

Komova is very upset - How she could survive such a disaster. She was clean everywhere - Oh that judges..

Congratulations to the medalists. Since I have not seen the ladies AA yet I cannot say who should have won but what separates the best from the rest is the ability to overcome adversity. In the world of sport these things happen all the time and I hope Komova can learn to overcome disappointment and come back stronger than ever next year. It is a sign of how far Russia ha bounced back that we are having this conversation at all. Hats off to them but it is not over yet! Komova could still win three more medals! And of course the men go tonight. :respec:

What can I say - I think Komova did enough. End of story.

According to this article, Komova wasn't robbed: http://www.universalsports.com/news-blogs/blogs/blog=tumblemumble/postid=561230.html

I haven't seen the routines, so i'm not sure. Maybe there was one or two crucial elements Komova missed on floor to make her SV lower?

Porgras scored a 14.6 in UB finals last year.

This year, her best score has been a 14.1. B&B are back for a year and this is what happens to their most promising bars worker. Such a shame.

I know. I was hoping she'd take third in the AA. Sigh.
I will wait to see before I judge, but here's hoping Komova is motivated to gold in London.
