Neither the Japanese nor the Americans look particularly thrilled

Well done China; they were pretty quiet for most of the competition, with all the attention on Japan and the US, but they snuck away with the gold.

Great turnaround from qualifications for China. Likely medalists at Olympics too I suspect. Though Russia could surprise. Prefer Japan for gold.

Japan had the highest score on 3 of the apparatus. :( But they also had three falls - one on PH, two on HB.

Russian men may not have medaled but the fact that they did their best is enough for me. Their last pre olympic year (2007) was complete disaster for both men and women and I still shudder when I think about it. Nice to have them back. :) But that margin between Japan and the US is sooooooo small! They were so close to silver! Anyway a very well deserved congratulations to all the medalists. I am already anticipating the olympic competition! :cheer2:

USA Boys!!!! :cheer2: :biggrinbo Whew, that was close!

Wow, that was a roller-coaster ride of a competition!

Some really beautiful stuff (I'm surprised how much I enjoyed Russia! Lotsa potential.).....and some hardcore disasters (((Germany & Romania))) :(

Does anyone know why Dragalescu didn't compete? Is he injured?

Very happy that Orozco delivered under such pressure. At only 18, he's a lot younger than most of the other guys. We were rooting for him at Nats last year, and were so upset when he was injured. What a great turn around in only a year. Loved this quote from an article about him on the USA gymnastics site (http://usagym.org/pages/post.html?PostID=8721&prog=):

John is the youngest of five. He has three brothers. "They act like, 'Oh, gymnastics -- oh, ha-ha-ha.' But when I'm not around, they're like, 'Oh, my brother -- he's going to the world championships!"

Glad he's coming home with a medal.

Well, Marta's not going anywhere  http://www.teamusa.org/news/2011/10/12/the-karolyi-way-u-s-women-are-winners/44958?ngb_id=3

"This team victory exemplifies the amazing program that has emerged over the past 11 years under the leadership of Martha Karolyi," Steve Penny, the president and chief executive officer of USA Gymnastics, said.

Team USA so aggresive and particularly Legendre shows off defiant behaviour. He yells "Come on" at the top of his voice. I wonder if anyone is engaged in upbringing of gymnasts? It is inappropriate to get off apparatus as if no one is there but them.
Paul Ham was an alumnus of that one and he is too arrogant in a taxicab now.

I agree! It was so bad but they got some good coaches back and some new talented gymnasts and it is looking so much better for 2012 than 2008. Russia is looking to be back in the game. Potential for more than two bronzes in mens.

My God, you're tiresome.

Hilariously tiresome, but tiresome nonetheless.

He had an injury and was going to rest for TF and AA. He is hoping to compete in EF. I don't know what the injury was, though. He is 100, so maybe his arthritis was acting up? He and Chuso can go get some treatment later today, lol
