I hope something's done to make things a bit more exciting. I got my sleep  while the event was going on, so I just read the PBP here once I got up and ready for the day and it was just boring (the event -- not the posts here  ) knowing that the event was basically wrapped up at the halfway point.

It's been this way since this CoP came in - always comes down to one or two teams, one or two AAer's. :(

yeah, very unexiting. :(

that's way I said earlier I wanted the 10.0 back. Would also make for more diversity (I hope) and less injuries (I hope).

but will probably not happen. :(

You summed up my 32,000-word pro-10.0 rant in about 4 seconds. :P

Obviously I missed the meet but way to go USA! That was such domination and the first time that team USA has gone clean under 3 up 3 count format. They are 32 for 32 thus far. Amazing.

I missed this earlier video. The U.S. team is totally adorable.

As for China, they have been a total mess all champs really, save for Sui Lu and Yao Jinnan. I think this is it for Jiang Yuyuan, Huang Quishuang and He Kexin. If so, it's a shame they all went out so tamely. I doubt Tan Sixin will get another chance. It's very likely that the London team will only contain one or two gymnasts from these worlds.

Romania have ALOT of work to do; why are they so god awful at bars?! Luckily for them, they have Iordache to come and brighten things up. Aside from DivaPonor, this was a slightly dreary bunch. What has happened to Ana Porgras' star?!

So, is He Kexin's elite career over at the ripe ol' age of 16/17? :P

I hate to make fun of someone else's misery, but I think it's sort of telling that He Kexin never won a Bars event when there wasn't doubt over whether she was age-eligible (there was still doubt at 2009 Worlds since she was accused of being 14 in 2008).

Next year Bross, Sacramone, Nastia Liukin the reigning Olympic AA Champion one of my fav's of all-time and I think she wants the UB gold she didnt get in 08, another year of progression from Wieber, Douglas, Maroney, Raisman, Vega, Ross, Shawn Johnson, Bridget Sloan, and after going into Olympics for the 3rd time in a row as reigning World Champions I don't think this is going to get to their head. They could have a team twice as strong next year, and if Martha breaks 5 of them it will still be more gymnasts to choose from (how sad is that to realistically say, **** her).
It is really amazing to think of how many World Champions will get left home. And weird that Bross is the only age-eligible athlete on that list who is not a WCs on any event.

Well hey congratulations to team USA! :cheer2: Once again we've set ourselves up as the world champions going into the Olympics.

I will say though I think this is the first time we've won with no major errors. Didn't someone fall off beam in 2007? No, Nastia seriously screwed up her dismount off beam. Well, that was a major error. I'm glad this team went out and killed it. Even I thought Maroney and Douglas would crumble but they competed like champions.

If there was any question regarding whether Anna Li was on the podium collecting her medal or Alicia's...ESPN has the answer:

Alicia Sacramone Nets Record 10th Medal (http://espn.go.com/olympics/gymnastics/story/_/id/7088107/world-gymnastics-championships-united-states-injured-alicia-sacramone-nets-record-10th-medal)

Poor Anna.

Hoping Komova got the jitters out and there will be a fabulous AA.

Maroney has the only 16 score so far EYS?

There are videos of the US girls up on USA gymnastics site.

Russian coach, Alexander Alexandrov, has just stated that he was quite happy with the result. He confirmed Komova is still not 100% and apparently, Anna Dementyeva has been suffering from a high fever - hence the reason for her under-performance in qualifications and the fact that she only came out to do 2 events today. Essentially, events have just conspired against them and it just ended up as a non-contest. In fact, I think they were lucky to end up with the Silver in the end - hence, the reason why Alexandrov was obviously happy with the result.

I am betting on Wieber for the all-around. I just don't think Komova is ready. She looks like somebody who has just come back from injury and isn't quite in the groove. Hence, the mistakes that keep creeping in. I don't think nerves or the 'jitters' had anything to do with it

I think the Russians will just look on it all as one of those things (i.e. they were up against it with all the injuries and bad luck, did there best, and came away with a respectable silver in trying circumstances) and with Mustafina, Sidorova, and Grishina to come in, they will have a much stronger squad by the time of the Olympics.

I hope so. I know probability isn't our friend, but I want the top teams to have their best be healthy for London.

I think the pressure will be off for the American team in that FINAL Olympic rosters are due the day after Trials, so there's no mind games being done as to who's going to be on the team and who's an alternate and who's out of luck since the Olympics are pretty strict about rosters once they are submitted.
