I was rooting for Russia, but good for the American girls. They don't need Alicia. Even if she can come back from that Achilles tear, she's gonna have to upgrade because her events are covered now.

Again, I think back to all the hysteria that the US wouldn't even qualify - and also that Gabby Douglas shouldn't be "allowed near a worlds team"... and they've strolled away with the world title like it was nothing  I'm not a fan of their general style, but they totally deserved it today. Well done.

I think a lot of the fear about not qualifying was when it was thought Aly was injured too.

Also, congrats to the Chinese; pretty nice to win a worlds medal even if you do fall all over the place; why do I love the beautiful-but-brittle gymnasts?! :(

Congrats to USA. Sad for Russia but I think they can do in London. China were really good too, with better UB and cleaner form they could certainly challenge in London.

Romania really needs better bar workers/routines.

Come London Marta may go crazy and decide to injure every gymnast.

Congratulations to the american girls very solid overall and that's how you win

one can argue and debate about the lack of polish and refinement or artistry but this is what we have right now in the sport of gymnastics and this is how you win, so all the recognition to them

British girls in 5th place!!! kudos to them!!!

Romania missing a medal by less than a half point, Ana Porgras scoring a 14.033 on bars, an apparatus where she used to excel and look what Bitang and Belu have done to her

Romania really needs better bar workers/routines.

Not gonna happen. Belu & Bitang seem to have an aversion to bars and can't/won't teach them properly.

Since 2000, the Romanians tend to only have one good bar worker at a time. Porgras is it right now.

Sofronie is the only Rom in the last few quads that I've liked on bars. She looked positively un-Romanian on that event, which is why she was so good.

I just love how the Russians line up.

Congratulations to the medalists and the olympics will be very interesting with Bross, Mustafina, Grishina and heavens knows who else will be either back from injury/come of age. Looking forward to it.
