Are you talking about coaches voting for the actual team or for who makes lineups, alternates, etc once the team is chosen?

I heard last year that Marta did not want Larson on floor but the other coaches outvoted her and then with what happened Marta said this year was completely her call.

I had to giggle looking at the official lineup and seeing Sacramone as the 3rd alternate on each event. I would never wish for this but it would be hilarious if two injuries occurred and the announcer is saying "Sacramone, you are needed on the podium....paging Sacramone, you are needed on the podium..." while Marta sits there and realizes how much she fecked up.

This is what happened, according to Marta. I never heard anything else about this so-called voting system and I think it's something she pulled out of thin air to cover her ass after the Larson meltdown. If the coaches had really been voting on lineups for the past 12 years, things would have been different in a lot of these team final situations. Sure, I bet coaches weigh in when Marta perhaps solicits their advice, but she makes all the lineup decisions. If they were voting on this crap, there is no way all of the coaches would have handled the Anna Li-Alicia situation this way.

:D :D I finally located the discount code for Universal Sports' online coverage of worlds. I remembered they had one last year for $5 off.

Live webcast. UniversalSports.com will have a live webcast of the team, all-around and individual event finals from Tokyo for $19.99. For U.S. Eastern Daylight Savings time, the live webcasts are scheduled for: Oct. 11 – women's team final, 6 a.m.; Oct. 12 – men's team final, 5 a.m.; Oct. 13 – women's all-around final, 5 a.m.; Oct. 14 – men's all-around final, 6 a.m.; Oct. 15 – individual event finals, 12:30 a.m.; and Oct. 16 – individual event finals, 1 a.m. (NOTE: Tokyo is 13 hours ahead of New York City; when it is midnight in Tokyo, it is 11 a.m. in New York.)

Universal Sports is offering the entire finals package to USA Gymnastics members for a discounted price of $14.99. To receive the special pricing, members need to use the redemption code of USAGYM when ordering the webcast at universalsports.com. Each of the webcasts will also be available through video-on-demand (VOD) after it airs to anyone who subscribes to the webcast.

Thanks, that must be where I got the $15 from.

:) When I read earlier that you thought it was $15, I searched around again and found the code for this year.

Looking forward to tomorrow, except for the part when I have to leave for work before the event is over. :(

Crap, I couldn't have the code. I paid $19

Who's going to be online tomorrow morning?

10-11-2011, 03:41 AM
I'll be up because I have to work but I'll only be able to follow the competition on Twitter if it's still going on when I get there. I have no access to FSU there aside from my phone so I'll hope for some random videos on You Tube by tomorrow night and of course, all you guys here to fill me on anything I miss during my work stuff in the morning. :)

I'm not paying for the stream, but I might be around anyway. Would love some PBP!

Tvteka is cheaper and you won't be suffering from understanding the terrible commentary.

Well, some of the US girls have been tweeting off and on all evening tonight so they must be pretty relaxed and ready for the competition! Jordyn was excited because the Dance Mom from that show tweeted good luck to them earlier tonight. They may be world class athletes but they are still very much teenagers, LOL

The US may very likely win in spite of bars, but I'll bet Marta will have her karmic payback in London as with the past two Olympics. :blah:

And for what Universal Sports is charging they should have included prelims IMO.

I am still on the fence about buying the feed but I do plan on getting up at 5 to watch. I guess I should go to bed soon. :shuffle:

If I get the feed then I may try to do pbp depending on how fast I can keep up. I am not nearly as good at identifying skills in gymnastics as I am in skating but I should be able to give some general pbp.

Pardon my harsh language, but what Marta did to Anna Li is fcucking criminal. I could punch that woman in her face.
That being said, I hope the team does well tonight--whether they win or not, it'd be nice to see them pull together and rock out the competition.

Russian girls tweeted yesterday that there were some palpable shakes (5.6 magnitude) during they were having a snack on the 14 floor. It was scary.

10-11-2011, 06:25 AM
I want the Russians to win, but I just hope it'll be a great competition with deserved winners, whatever happens. I hope the Chinese are treated a little more fairly than in the QR.
