France ahead of GBR and leads in 2 individual events so far.

ETA; finishes behind Ukraine... i think UKR has qualified for both finals as well as to the Olympics, unless Australia, Canada or Belarus scores higher than Ukraine. Assuming China, Korea and Russia will be in top 8.

France has great talent individual apparatus and capable of wining medals and ok team... they should have qualified in top 8, i think. Biggest shock is team GBR, they clearly bombed, only individual qualifier for apparatus final is Louis Smith on PH in second place with China yet to compete.

I am following Blythe at the Examiner and the Russians are on rotation four and no major mistakes for them so far. Neither for my Canadians guys. But the Chinese are yet the come so the they really did save the best for last this time.

OUCH! The Russia are all but assured a place in the Olympics but the Brits will have to try again early next year to qualify a full team. Any links to who the AA & EF finalists are so far?

Thanks for the links. :) I wonder how the Chinese are gonna do. They can be so iffy sometimes and the Russians only have two qualifiers in EFs they still have work to do before next year.

Mens gymnastics seem to be so different to the womens. In womens only vault tends to feature smaller nations. Whereas all apparatuses in mens feature smaller nations. Likewise, those that do well in AA often don't feature in Event Finals and often don't even medal in such events. While AAers tend to do well in womens.

So many good gymnasts - one-two apparatuses specialists from top nations have no chance to be elected to the squad - nasty practice by fig

Apologies if this has already been posted. Just found this great article in International Gymnast on women's qualification in advance of tomorrows team competition:

International Gymnast (http://www.intlgymnast.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2984:komova-us-lead-world-qualification-in-tokyo&catid=90:2011-world-championships-news&Itemid=238)

Essentially, what tomorrow's team competition comes down to is that either Anna Dementyeva performs a lot better or it is the USA's to lose

Yup. And to a lesser extent, China's UB's. But yes, it's the USA's to lose.
