I was just going over Chinese skating news, and one recent article said Li Chengjiang actually had to give up his lucrative position at his old club to teach the national team which only offers a meager salary (only several thousand instead of 10 thousand or more at the old club)

All for the purpose of building a good national Chinese team :respec:

It would not surprise me if Mingzhu Li gave up even more for her position. I'm sure she was doing well financially in the U.S., with a junior world champion as her protege.

Sorry for slight OT, this is a news article about Huang XinTong

http://news.dayoo.com/sports/201204/10/58196_108048201.htm

She said she is aiming at top ten at worlds next year with her partner. She said one big obstacle is the shyness of Chinese teams and the inability to project the dance themes effectively. She said her partner doesn't talk much

Good Lord. She said when they first went aboard for training, she had to share a bed with another skater (I can't tell who that person is) to save money. The first day they went to the rented apartment, it had no light, no table. It was completely unfurnished. They put down a black trash bag on the floor, then sat there and ate Ramon noodle.

Interesting group of upcoming juniors esp. the men (I am very impressed with Han Yan). If they continue to improve, looks like the men from Japan, China and USA will dominating the podium places in next couple of years. :)

I can't wait for Han Yan vs. Hanyu battle. They both have technical talent and on presentation they both represent totally different style that dominate FS today (at least before Yuzuru change coach).

Damm it Chinese fed; just sent him to senior!!!!!!!!!!!
