Anyone else watch 24/7 last night? I'm convinced that Ilya Bryzgalov is the world's greatest philosopher- talking about everything from the universe to Chinese tiger law.

Ryan Callahan's grandma was awesome. Ooooh boy Max Talbot that Christmas sweater is definitely worse than last year's.

It's just been reported that Chris Pronger is out for the rest of the season and playoffs because of severe post-concussion syndrome.

Bryz is the breakout star of 24/7 definitely. His whole speech about the universe was hilarious and spot-on. "It's...so humungous...we're sooooooo small".

I wouldn't be surprised if this leads to Pronger's retirement. I'm not a fan, but I still hate to see anyone taken out by injury.

In other news, Mike Milbury has been charged with assaulting a child (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/NBC-analyst-Mike-Milbury-charged-with-assaulting?urn=nhl-wp20037).

The only good that could come out of that is I might see and hear less of him on TV and radio for the time being.

I too am not a Chris Pronger fan, but also hate to see someone's career end too soon due to an injury, instead of that person being able to go out on his own terms. A good friend of mine at another site said that if Time can call 2011 The Year of the Protester, then The Hockey News should name it The Year of the Concussion. :(

As for the Mike Milbury news...Why oh why am I neither shocked nor surprised by this?

edited to add...Got the very silly pre game show for HNIC on in the background (PJ Stock does not come across well on this thing...Anyway...) and tonight's a very big night. The Ducks play in Winnipeg for the first time this season, which means that Teemu Selanne's back in the 'Peg for the first time since the Jets returned to the NHL.

The Ducks got into Winnipeg at about 2am this morning and there were still about 30 fans hanging out at the Hotel waiting to welcome him "home". Teemu also stayed and talked w/them and signed stuff. Class act that man. HNIC had better show that Pre Game Skate, as the ovation Teemu's going to get when he steps on that ice is going to be very, very, very LOUD!! :)

The Sabres are seriously sucking lately. I'm hoping it's just a slump. It's been a really bad sports month in Buffalo this month.

At this rate, the new interim Habs coach won't be getting the permanent job. This season is getting painful. :yikes: :(

Already a goal behind the Jets tonight but hopefully they can pull it out.

Well they lost to my beautiful Jets and serves you right for such wrong-headed hoping :P I don't mind if they want to beat every other team, but leave my Jets alone. :dog:

If the fans in Quebec insist on getting their own way on having someone who speaks French then I will need to put the Habs at the bottom of my list of Canadian city teams for which to cheer. Me - it's about winning. I don't care what language you speak just get more "W"s in the column and I'm OK.

Congratulations to one of my two Captains, Jerome Iginla, on scoring his 500th goal about ten minutes ago at home in Calgary!!!

WTG Iggy and one of the true good guys in the NHL.

What a wacky bout of scoring though. First Calgary goal was Bouma's first ever NHL goal and the second was Iggy's 500th.

So happy and thrilled for Iggy. Now if my boys can only hang on to win this thing...

Congrats Iggy on his 500th goal!

Sad news from the Pens- Jordan Staal is out 4 to 6 weeks with a knee injury, James Neal has a broken foot and will be out weeks, and now Craig Adams got hurt in practice today. According to the Pens site, the team is on pace for 431 man-games lost this season, beating last season's 350 man-games lost. :(
