I didn't think Boudreau would have to wait too long for a new job, but damn. He didn't even have time to join the panel on TSN!

Also, I'm assuming the Bobby Ryan watch is off for now?

Brian Burke is the greatest. Seriously. (http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/2011/12/02/on-anti-bullying-and-how-brian-burkes-son-helped-mend-his-relationship-with-kevin-lowe/)

Two more Pens have been diagnosed with concussions- Kris Letang and Zbynek Michalek. With an injury to Derek Engelland, half the Pens defense is composed of AHL call-ups. It's like last season all over again, except the defense going down with injury after injury instead of the forwards. :fragile:

Speaking of concussions, the NY Times just did a three-part series on Derek Boogaard that ends with questions about potential long-term brain damage from taking so many hits. I have to admit that I'm one of the many fans who enjoys the occasional scrap on the ice, but after reading this article, I think I may need to look at fights in a different light.

Apparently the NHL Board of Governors has approved realignment into a new four conference system. Whoa - major shakeup.

Also, the playoffs will now have the first two rounds between divisional opponents.

I've always been one of the few that was fairly neutral on the issue of fighting. I wouldn't miss it if it was gone, but I never really had a big problem with it either. However, the more articles I read detailing the long term damage it causes, the harder it becomes to justify its existence in the game.

It must have been a misprint, but, today's Miami Herald showed the Florida Panthers as 1st in Division & 3rd in Conference with 34 points.....:kickass:

Gotta hand it to Dale Tallon- he put together a good group of guys, and they're surprising everyone. I was really surprised though the Caps didn't start Vokoun against his old team.

This is a fantastic series. Wonderful journalism. Fighting is stupid, I'm sorry. The videos that accompany this series make me furious-- insanely violent fighting going on, mid-ice, while the officials just stand back, doing nothing.

I couldn't finish the Boogaard article. Too upsetting.

Well Holy Crap and Merry Christmas to us Leafs fans today!!

A combined partnership between Bell Media and Rogers Communications bought out the Ontario Teachers and are now the majority owners of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. While I hate the idea of those two now having yet another monopoly when it comes to broadcasting something big here in Canada sportswise, OTOH...

It's about time the Teachers Union *finally* let it go. I honestly do believe that so long as they were the Majority shareholders in Leafs Land (and Raptors/Toronto FC land too), nothing would improve w/the Leafs or the other two teams. W/the two communications giants now in charge and ratings being a huge part of their business, you can't seriously think they won't do what it takes to make that happen.

So IMO, this is a very good day for Leafs fans. Time will tell if I'm right.

Sidney Crosby has concussion symptoms again. No timetable for return. It's like it's January all over again. :fragile:

I am weary and dishearted when I read things like this. One of the greatest players in the sport and he's gone again. I'm also a bit peeved at "the great man in charge" who still seemingly metes out punishment to some people some of the time with others (and a certain team in particular) getting a free pass yet again. le sigh ...

Glad they don't seem to be taking chances, but what a shame. :( :wuzrobbed

I'm glad Crosby is being smart about these injuries. There's no sense in rushing back if he's not ready.
