What the hell is going on with the San Jose Sharks this season???? :wall: Where is the team I know and love?

Someone please tell me it's just the start of the season but everyone seems to be playing better than the Sharks. They used to make Duck Confit out of Anaheim. What's going on???!!! :drama:

Tyler Kennedy is the latest Pittsburgh Penguin who now has concussion symptoms. :fragile:

Brooks Orpik, Sidney Crosby, Geno Malkin, and Dustin Jeffrey are still out of the lineup. I swear- it's like Groundhog Day with the endless cycle of injuries on this team.

It's not how you start. It's how you finish. It's too early to worry about the Sharks.

As a side note, I went to see the Phoenix Coyotes game against the visiting Winnipeg Jets (the team that moved and became the Coyotes). It was very exciting, and the Coyotes won 4-1, which was great. It was the home opener for the Coyotes, who were winless at that point.

I don't think the Jets are a good team this year (they were the Atlanta Thrashers until this year), but I am sure the people of Winnipeg are happy to have their NHL team back. Most of the current Coyotes were not on the Jets team that moved from Winnipeg, except Shane Doan, the team captain.

Thank you, Vash01. I hope they get it together sooner than later. Yesterday was frustrating.

Sorry to hear about Tyler. I've always liked him and enjoyed his play. Hope he's able to come back. What's going on w/Malkin though? Still having problems w/that knee?

While watching the Pre Game for Game One of the World Series on Sportsnet, I saw on the bottom line something I hadn't heard of until now. October in the NHL is Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Month. They showed the number that if you text to will give a donation to their fund, but I didn't manage to remember it. However, that message also said if you went to shop.nhl.com there would be more information there.

Odd the NHL hasn't promoted that more during the broadcasts of the games I've seen, but especially on Hockey Night in Canada. Very odd that.

Malkin's still having soreness in his knee from the surgical scar. They're exercising a lot of caution with him- resting him now so the team will have him for longer in the season. The same goes for Crosby, Orpik, and Jeffrey in their recoveries from the concussion and off-season surgeries.

That's odd, because they're always seems to be Hockey Fights Cancer commercials on during games on television, both on Versus and NHL Network. Even the CT Whale game I went to last weekend had several different Hockey Fights Cancer ads playing at the game.

I knew that about the others, but hadn't heard that about Malkin. I've had my problems w/scar tissue and screws needing to come out after orthopedic surgery in the past and it's not fun. I hope Malkin's issues resolve and quickly for him.

Well, that's even odder we haven't heard anything about it up here in Canada. At least not w/the games I've watched this month.

AE,
I've heard a bit about Malkin, but it has not been much nor as often. Usually when the talking heads at a couple of the sports channels are speaking about who is out for which team, we hear some about Sidney and now they have started to mention Malkin. I was quite surprised to hear he is out too but the Penguins seem to be doing OK without their two stars.

There's talk now that Malkin may return tomorrow against the Devils. He and Sid practiced with the team today. Orpik and Jeffrey returned last night, and both played quite well considering the length of time they were out (Jeffrey hasn't played a game since March). James Neal has been a man on a mission, and damn, he has seven goals already. :kickass:

Unfortunately, it's been confirmed that Tyler Kennedy has a concussion and Brian Strait has a hyper-extended elbow. Both will be out for a while. :(

Sportsnet's reporting that Chris Pronger took a stick to his eye. He's got blurry vision and swelling and has obviously come out of tonight's game. He's going to an eye specialist tomorrow.

He's not my favourite player, but I wouldn't wish that injury on anyone. I hope his eye and more importantly, his vision, ends up being okay.

*And* was named NHL Player of the Week to boot KHenry. Saw that on Sportsnet's bottom line last night.

Marc-Andre Fleury recorded his first shutout of the season last night against the Islanders 3-0. It's his 20th career shutout. Glad to see the Pens still doing well, despite losing yet another player Zbynek Michalek for 4-6 weeks because of a broken finger. Geno Malkin also came back last night.

Hope that Pronger will be okay. The video of his eye injury was very scary.
