Agreed--so many say how pivotal Jane Lynch is for this show and I think the show would be fine without her. There are plenty of other ways to introduce antagonists. I like Lynch but Sue is wearing thin for me.

They've written her more and more to the extreme...so much so that it is to the point where it is no longer funny.

I actually think Sue in this episode has been so much more tolerable than the Sue we had all last season.

I still think the problem is that Sue is the only foil the writers have given this show while in season 1, she was sharing that role with Terri and others. I don't really count the bullies or the school making fun of them because they aren't really used in the same way.

I don't even think they necessarily need new antagonists. I just think that they are making Sue seem completely nuts and obsessive. They are also creating off the wall scenarios for her plots. She has had some of the best "one liners" in the show, but they aren't using her as well as they could be. Lynch has great comic timing, and her evilness can be very funny. But they are making her so one dimensional thus, making her less funny.

Speaking of the bullies, is Karofsky going to be back this season? I was surprised he wasn't in the season premiere at all.

Maybe the answer is spoiler-material, but does anyone know if Lauren Zizes is absolutely gone from Glee or is her departure part of her subplot?

Karofsky is going to be absent from the first few episodes, but is definitely returning - the actor who plays him has confirmed this. I believe he will be reappearing around Episode 5.

I don't know if Lauren will ever rejoin the glee club itself, but Ryan Murphy has said that the character will be back for a big story arc later in the season - it's supposed to be something funny involving Kurt, so I'm guessing it might have to do with Kurt's eventual run for Student Council President.

From TV Guide Magazine:

Shelby, Rachel's birth mom (Idina Menzel) and the adoptive mother of Quinn's baby will take a job as a McKinley teacher in episode 2. Her story line involves Quinn, who has quit the glee club and gone bad.

I really hope that doesn't turn out to be the Plotline of the Week and after 1 talk with Shelby Quinn's like, oh yeah, I want to be in Glee again. Plotlines need to stop being rushed.

I think Quinn does want to join the Glee club again. It was the look on her face during "We've got the Beat and "You Can't stop the Beat."

I agree, but it will be really lame if they gave her cigarettes and new friends and pink hair and all that for the whole subplot to last a grand total of 2 episodes. Much ado about nothing and all that.

Do we need to use spoiler tags to talk about thing we think might happen (maybe)?

When they concern upcoming guest actors, as those do, yes.
