Ok, favorites:
1. Darren's song. Best song of the episode, IMO.
2. SUGAR! She's gonna be so much fun...

OK, my thoughts... It is clear the new added writing staff is helping. Much more focus on the central characters and their inter-twined histories and character histories (esp. considering the preview for next week).
I loved Lindsay's guest role as a quasi-alternate Rachel in the "mid-west scholastic musical" contest. Esp. the "every note you can hold, I can hold better" line to Rachel! Perfect! Though is it only me, but did Lindsay seem to resemble a (somewhat more) musical neurotic version of Reese Witherspoon playing Elle Woods in "Legally Blonde" (or maybe Tracy from "Election"?).
Glad to see Blane and Kurt's relationship being furthered (as well as challenged) in the season 3 opener. Yes, Santana is *clearly* making a play for Blaine in order to provide dissension within the Glee ranks, as well as go along with Sue's agenda to destroy (yet again) the WMHS Glee Club. SOOOO glad Will banned her!
Looking forward to the next episode, with the return of a previous character and the impact it will have on our Glee members... :D

A very solid opener. I, for one, loved Quinn's ironic Ryan Seacrest tatoo and skanky friends. Ryan Murphy has a thing for characters who eat cat poop and catnip!

Silly questions, was Blaine's last name ever mentioned and what were the Asperger's jokes that everyone on facebook is complaining about? I had to work last night so I taped the episode and the sound wasn't clear on the vcr playback.

Much as I loved the various musical numbers, the car scene was best part of the episode by a mile, IMO. As I saw posted elsewhere, Kurt was a better boyfried to Rachel there than Finn has ever been.
Beautifully acted by Lea and Chris too.
I agree. And that last moment looked ad-libbed. "You realize we just did a gay high five?", "Yeah we did" - it was such a natural moment, it felt unscripted to me.
I missed bits and pieces. I did really enjoy You Can't Stop the Beat. Looking forward to downloading the full version.
I'm guessing the girl from The Glee Project was the Rachel-look a like at that mixer singing the song from Gypsy? She did a great job!

The promo for next week had me !
Teacher: What's the capitol of Ohio?
Calls on Brittney,
Brittney: O.
I almost fell over
Oh yeah! That line alone is enough to bring me back next week!

As for the Asberger's jokes, it was one of the new characters who claimed she had "self-diagnosed Asperger's" and so she could say whatever she wanted. I've seen the complaints, but I don't think they were mocking Asperger's so much as they were mocking people who don't actually have it but just use it as an excuse to be an asshole (hence the "self-diagnosed" part).
Speaking of which, am I the only one who actually kind of loved Sugar? I thought she was hilarious.

I believe that your take is right. However, I would like to see them drop this line. I don't think it's funny, and it is disrespectful of a disorder. The Becky character has been victimized by bullying and has been used to show how ugly bullying is. This new character, with Asperger's is, essentially, bullying/making fun of people with the disorder, in addition to those who "self diagnose".
Did anyone see Lea at the Emmys? She really is Rachel. Obviously I don't know her, but she really does seem quite impressed with herself.

Yeah, Lea is over the top with self love.
She'd better watch out. Lindsay can sing as well as she can, and she is much prettier! I really do think Lindsay is going to be brought in next year to replace her.

It wasn't Gypsy but Anything Goes and Annie Get Your Gun...all three shows stared Ethel Merman, ;)

Lindsey is on already? That is surprising.
There was a story in the last little while that the writers had this part, and when Ryan saw her on TGP, he decided to offer it to her.
So, she filmed this before TGP was over. Apparently there was a lot of sooper-sekret manuvering to get her on and off set without anyone finding out.

I was thinking Gypsy was Rosalind Russell, but maybe that was just the movie.
TGP?

That was just the movie. There was controversy when Ethel Merman didn't get the part of Mama Rose, one that she created on Broadway, in the Gypsy film while Rosalind Russell, whose voice did not quite fit the material, got it.
That said, Russell, was no slouch either, and did win a Tony Award for her performance in Wonderful Town which gave her near universal acclaim.

Not the last time that happened - see Julie Andrews in My Fair Lady.

I remember that. My mother was outraged! I was only 10 or 11, so I was not as emotional over it, at the time. I love Audrey Hepburn, but her voice was dubbed. I think Julie Andrews was robbed on that one.
