BTW, I'm in the minority because despite it taking a lot of time away from the plot and shilling for the Christmas album, I absolutely loved the Christmas Special. It was totally in the spirit to those old cheesy specials and Lea Michele and Chris Colfer absolutely understood it. They were by far the best in the special.I agree with all this. Actually, I would have been happy if they had done a whole episode in that style, and done away with the Very Special Lesson part.

Also, I assume that it's because they want to stick to more secular stuff for the show, but it sucks that for the second year in a row the two best songs off the Christmas album didn't make the episode. Last year it was "God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen" and "O Holy Night" (though "Baby, It's Cold Outside" was pretty great too), this year "Little Drummer Boy" and "Do You Hear What Hear" (although that second one probably wouldn't have made it anyway since it's sung by the Glee Project people).

Glee's song are pretty secular, aren't they? However, Rory's last reading about Jesus Christ certainly wasn't. That seemed sort of odd considering how Jesus-free the rest of the episode was.

I looked at it as just another tribute to Christmas themed shows. This was "A Charlie Brown Christmas" moment.

Rachel also quoted Lucy from A Charlie's Brown Christmas when she gave Finn the list she said the "all I want is my fair share" line of Lucy's. I always thought Rachel was Jewish so was wondering why she was so into the Christmas presents but I guess I was mistaken about that.

There's a reason this GIF (http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=psolc&s=5) gets used so much by Glee fans.

Maybe both Dads aren't Jewish.

I just watched the xmas episode, and it was by far the best episode of the season, even though it was standalone and didn't have anything to do with the rest of the season. Then again, I freakin LOVE the Judy Garland Christmas Special, and I thought they did a great job with it. I even loved Lea Michele's acting in it, and she usually bugs.

of course, there are always caveats :saint:...

- it really bugged all episode that Rachel was going on about Christmas because the fact that she's Jewish has been a big part of the show.
- the Xmas special just....ended on that weird jesus-y note. I didn't mind, because I was expecting a big counterpoint after the commercial break, but it didn't come, and suddenly they were at the homeless shelter. They should have just chosen ONE plot point and investigated it more instead of trying to cram in two different things, but that's always GLEE's problem.
- I thought Damian was getting a 4-episode arc? Feels like he's been on the show for at least 6 eps. I don't mind this - but maybe they only count the eps where he has lines because I'm sure there have been some where he is seen and not heard. I just hope Samuel gets as much air time.
- I was dismayed that they did "My Favorite Things" after lea michele had that SUPER ANNOYING commercial with it last year.

And finally (and more seriously)
- There has been a ton of news about the Salvation Army's homophobic practices (http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2011/12/16/dont-donate-to-the-salvation-army-dont-donate-to-charity)recently. Pretty serious misstep for them to be highlighted on GLEE.

^ I don't think it explicitly stated that it was the Salvation Army did it? I mean all things point to it being one of those Salvation Army donation tins, but we can pretend it was some knock-off with more gay-friendly politics.

Not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but has anyone seen this news? Apparently Atlanta Housewife NeNe Leakes is joining Glee.

Damien is being kept on Glee past his seven show win, not sure if he'll be back next season but he will definitely be on Glee for the remainder of this season.

And in the same vein...Helen Mirren to be part of the next new episode (January 17th) (http://www.tvline.com/2011/12/glee-helen-mirren-season-3/)

But in a twist, the British dame will be heard, not seen.

Per a Glee insider, Mirren provides the “inner voice” of a character who shall remain nameless. (For now at least.)
My guess: Brittany

Although I think Helen Mirren is vastly overrated, I'm looking forward to hearing her.
