I love the bit at the end, when he just collapses in the backseat  Is his voice always that whiney, or is it just the booze?

ITA  That video is sadly hilarious. Yes he has always sounded as though he was on helium.

I see the name of Naoya Tsukahara in the list of team Australia, did not know he is now representing them!

Just curious, but what happened to Memmel? I really didn't expect to see SJ, but this surprises me.

See BigBO's post a few posts back, sounds like she's not doing that great. But since this list is just preliminary, it could change. Last year I think Kytra Hunter was on this list too and then was replaced by the time the team was actually named. So Shawn, Chellsie, Gabrielle, and Bridget Sloan could still be in the mix...

Yes, Hunter was on the list last year then removed. The list almost always changes, I don't know if it has ever not changed since Marta has been in charge.

I never understood Hunter being on last years team initially since she never looked likely to compete in any of the events in team finals. She is a poor womens Raisman. I wasnt at all surprised when she was removed. I am guessing she was just put on it to motivate Sloan to push her comeback a bit more.

This years list is different. If Memmel is at all injured and unless Johnson has improved alot since Nationals, I dont see what would be changed. I didnt think Li would make it when she was left off the National team but her being on the provisional list shows Marta must have interest, and if they dont Memmel they would probably have to take both her and Caquatto (or Douglas but I dont see her making it).

Marta uses this list (among many other things) to play mind games with the gymnasts. My guess is she left Chellsie off to send her a message that she needs to be working harder and doing her numbers at camp.

Kytra wasn't *that* bad and could probably at least have contributed as much as Mattie Larson, Chelsea Davis, or Mackenzie Caquatto. She placed fairly well in AA at Nationals last year so there really was no reason for her to not make the team, nor was there a super strong case for her TO make the team. She was just perpetually on the bubble and didn't quite make it.

Well Mattie Larson should have been able to contribute bigtime on floor and possibly on vault. She was even a good backup option on bars. She just bombed at Worlds, especialy on floor which is the main reason she was put on the team. Plus she was 2nd AA at Nationals, if she isnt a headcase she is obviously better than Hunter except possibly on beam.

Caquatto was of much more use than Hunter due to the U.S teams dire need on bars.

I guess my point is I woudnt be surprised if the final team ended up being exactly that (nor would I be that surprised if 1 or 2 things change, but I think there is much more chance of it staying the same than there was last year).

Rumor is that Sloan is doing very well. If true, I see her making the team. She is very good backup on almost all events plus her bars is TF worthy. I would like to replace Vega with Sloan and keep Li.

Rumour Sacramone to Worlds

ETA: "Major bar drama went down at the ranch today. Both Macko and Anna Li fell during the verification. For Anna Li, bars was the only event she verified this week and it was also the only bar routine she missed in Texas. Bridget Sloan also fell, while Memmel didn't compete on bars. Shawn Johnson hit her routine, but the routine isn't worth enough to land her a spot on the world team. Ironically, Gabby Douglas hit bars. It is going to be a last minute decision to see who makes the squad, as girls are improving and messing up by the second. Camp concludes tonight with a final workout. All of these girls should make the next camp because the US just doesn't have that many bodies available to fill two full teams for Pan Ams and Worlds.

John Geddert's Facebook stated that Wieber scored a 14.85 on FX and a 16.00 on VT."

Don't know Aunt Joyce's sources though...

 at Li falling only during the actual verification routine. It could have just been a fluke or maybe nerves get to her too much? You would think NCAA would have taken care of that but this is a much different ballgame, a trip to Worlds is on the line.

Memmel has to be out of the running if she isn't able to do bars. Her shoulder must be bad. There is another camp, though. The one hope for her is that, as mentioned, the bar specialists are all falling! If she shows up at the next camp healed up and throwing full difficulty then she might have a shot.

I don't care if Douglas hits every bar routine, I wouldn't put her anywhere near the Worlds team. She absolutely implodes during competition. Her hit ratio at Nationals was abysmal.

I heard yesterday that all girls will be invited back and that only makes sense with the very limited amount of girls. Weiber's scores were from yesterday, unless they verified those events again and she scored the same thing...

I heard over at GGMB that Paul Hamm has been fired. I understand that people deserve a second chance and all, but the reports and that video did not make him look good at all and I can't say I blame them for making that decision.

I had a feeling that was going to happen. I have a friend who was an instructor at a university. He got a DUI and was fired from the university job two days later.
