Russia next.

Hope Komova hits everything and that Afan rocks out on floor.

Projected finalists for Team USA (w/ current rank):

All-Around: Wieber (1) & Raisman (3)
Vault: Maroney (1)
Bars: Douglas (2) & Wieber (3)
Beam: Wieber (2) & Raisman (5)
Floor: Raisman (1) & Wieber (3)

Of course, Russia, Japan, & Great Britain are still coming up in prelims. However, I'd say those girls should still qualify...Raisman on beam could be the only question mark at this point.

Italians on beam are good, however Russian have been very shaky on beam.

Tweet from Alicia: "That's what I'm talking about! #TeamUSA making me proud!" :cheer:

I have to laugh just a bit. After all the injury worries, so many people were saying they were frightened the US wouldn't QUALIFY (for finals or Olys or whatever) On here, and a few other boards, I said I thought they'd still win gold, and then got quite alot of flack in PM's for being a "jinx". I know there's still other teams to go, and that this isn't the finals, but there clearly were a few fairly hysterical reactions to the injuries.

That being said, there is still finals, but I think the US are looking really good. Interested to see how Russia do.

Hope ASac is doing well.

Oh and :cheer2: for Gabby.

ETA: Oh, and I'm gingerly pleased for Huang Quishuang, after so many people doubted her; of course, the big performances for her are still to come, so I'm still holding my breath.

To be fair, that's when we all thought both Alicia and Aly were out and we were suffering from hysteria. Plus, nobody could have thought China would have vomited all over bars.

Anyway, at least I never sent you any PMs. ;)

Yay Gabby! She went 4 for 4 and is likely in bar finals. 4th AA but Raisman beat her out for the 2nd spot.

 I'll raise my hand to being a little nervous once Alicia got injured. It wasn't that I didn't think they were capable of hitting at all. I just wasn't sure how they would handle that type of pressure because most of them have never experienced it before but hey, maybe that helps when you don't really know what's at stake! Then you just go on autopilot and hit 20 for 20 in your first ginormous competition, LOL

Alicia on Twitter seems like her same, positive self...trying not to dwell on what happened and is focusing on getting healed up and ready for next year. I think she's just bummed out to not be in Japan with the girls anymore. She does love being the mother hen! :P

Team scores so far:

1. USA 234.253
2. China 230.370
3. Romania 227.228
4. Australia 221.846
5. Germany 221.163
6. Canada 215.328
7. Netherlands 212.828
8. Brazil 212.497
9. Korea 211.930
10. Mexico 206.751
11. Venezuela 202.294
12. Uzbekistan 201.861
13. Slovenia 197.828
14. Greece 197.611

With Russia, GBR, Japan, Spain, and France coming up...it'll be a nail-biter to see which teams will be in the top 8 and automatically qualify for the Olympics. Germany and Australia beat their pre-Worlds averages.

And Ukraine. Also Belgium, who won't contend for top 8, but could certainly contend for top 16.

I really hope Canada can hold on and qualify a full team after losing out for Beijing. :(

Don't forget that only the top 8 automatically qualify. The teams that miss out can get another chance at the last qualification event where 4 more teams qualify. If Canada stays in shape then I think they should be able to do that but I think they will just miss qualifying here. They would need GBR or Japan to have big problems and that doesn't take into account some other teams. Anything can happen, though.

I just feel bad for whichever team ends up 9th today and has to go qualify in January.

Wieber score lower than Mustafina's last year - but still impressive
