Is this going to be televised this weekend? Thanks!

Hats off to Thema Williams of Trinidad. She is the first gymnast from the country of my birth to make it to the worlds. She did not do well at all but I hope she keeps up with it and does better next time.

Romania's bars scores are atrocious.

I bet they're chomping at the bit for Iordache to be eligible.

And Iordache's bars aren't even that great. Porgras used to be able to swing but she's totally gone off the boil ever since B&B came back.

Has anyone been able to find any videos from day 1? The FIG channel is the only place I've been able to find anything. http://www.youtube.com/user/figchannel They only have a few routines up, however.

I'd love to see this double front vault from the Dominican Republic gymnast!

:revenge: Marta.
(just felt like there wasn't enough of that in the thread)

Ponor has the most hideous twisting form I've ever seen:

Oh my goodness, that is awful. She does look as fit as can be though.

Romania in general look quite weak IMO.

Ponor's beam looked gross. Her leaps and dismount are fug.

Marta's decision to leave Alicia on the roster is one of the stupidest decisions I've seen.

If Alicia was left on in order to get her record breaking medal than shame shame shame on Marta and Alicia (if Alicia was involved in the decision). Way to steal a potential medal from Anna, the only one she will ever have a chance of getting. Not to mention, who wants to break a record by having a medal given to them? Alicia will not even be on the same continent as the team when they get the medal, if they do...

I still hold out hope that Marta will put Anna in for TF since there is a very legitimate reason to sub her in. Maybe this will get them both a medal? I just think it is risky to put Anna in during TF without first going up in prelims.

Marta's decision to leave Alicia on the roster is one of the stupidest decisions I've seen.

I was surprised to see her going for the full-in dismount during prelims. She was very underrotated on it, she's lucky she didn't clock her head on the beam during that huge lunge forward. Her acrobatic skills looked solid, but as you said, the leaps were a bit scrunchy. I looooove that she does an Onodi... I don't think I've seen one of those in a few years. Certainly is one of those elements that was victim of the COP.

I hope above everything that Anna gets to perform in TF. Although I would much rather her go up in prelims too in order to have a shot at the event finals. :revenge: Marta, again.

She needs to contact both Kupets and Hatch stat.

According to her website (http://www.anniahatch.org/Annia%20Hatch-%20Gym%20Bio%20(1).htm), Anna tore her her ACL and medial and lateral menisci the year before Athens, not her Achilles.

I agree. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember Kupets not thinking her WC Gold from 2003 to be completely "legit" because she only competed in Prelims.

I can't imagine Marta caring about Alicia getting a medal. The lady wants to win gold. So if Anna isn't on the roster it is either because the rules prohibit it at this point, or she has to wait for some reason.

Anna Li was accredited as an athlete from the beginning (one of seven for the USA). The countries do not have to submit their six competing names until 24 hours prior to their day of competition. Marta absolutely could have submitted Anna Li's name instead of Sacramone's It made no sense to keep Sacramone on there as she won't even be in Japan when they compete in team finals!

According Gymnastike (http://www.gymnastike.org/page/1083)

She got credited for Produnova vault...7.1 d score, 7.9 E score... first vault of Pena had D score of 5.3 and E score of 8.633 for an avg of 14.466, she in the lead on the vault event.

I do think hers is the injury waiting to happen but good for get it credited.

I found a video of her doing the vault in podium training: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF23dDHweB4. Doesn't look like it did when Prudonova did it, but still kudos to her for pulling something like that off :)
