Say,I was wondering about that. I have a Program from (for example 'Ice Folies" from the 1930's). But what I'm interested to know is...going backward in History. What was the vey first Skating Competition or Show (depending on if it was a Competition or Show to use them first) to use offical Programs?

Interesting question. I had never thought of this.

Seems to me I remember reading that some of the flyers from Jackson Haines' (1840 - 1879) European exhibitions have survived. Since he's credited with being the person who introduced skating to music, I suppose that the printed announcements of his performances could be considered programs. I'm also not sure of the exact dates but they'd be from the 10 years or so prior to Haines' death and probably from Vienna, Austria, where he was wildly popular.
