the commentary is more interesting than the choreography. it's hard not to laugh at how much they're trying to be nice at her

You might not like it but the choreography was very decent, compared to most Ladiezzz.

For what little it's worth, I agree with you. It's not Afternoon of a Faun or Arirang or Winter into Spring or even Leonova's circus and witch programs, but it's still one of the few I've been moved to rewatch during the off-season.

This is all I have to say:

I am sorry. That is AWFUL.

I want Rachael to succeed but that is just

She looks ridiculous. Those silly expressions are not worthy of an elite skater. Hopefully now that she has new coaches she'll explore other choreographers as well.

I don't agree they were silly, but they certainly are no worse than
the prevalent looks of angst so many of the ladies do and pass off as "feeling the music". That is when I really can't avoid LMAO. They look constipated.

No doubt someone will criticize her for not dressing up to go to a baseball game or for her hair not looking perfect while napping or some other silly thing, but thanks for the link.

:yikes:

Excuse me, but what's that supposed to mean?

I try to keep my comments to the skating. The choreo. in her program last year was awful, but there was nothing wrong with those photos.

Thanks for the link, Sylvia. How nice of her to spend so much of her first day of classes at Stanford promoting Nationals. I think she looks great.

I want skaters to respond to the music, but please. The choreography there was silly and inappropriate for a senior level, high ranking international competitor. It honestly seemed like a joke.

And it was a good joke. :)

Screw the whole serious, poignant, mature, whatever crap.

We're not in the 1950s and THANK VOIDS we don't have everybody skating in suits, to classical pieces, any more.

I want to see more silly, childish, crazy, inappropriate programs with music that hurts my ears, Gaga dresses made out of balloons Zhiganshina style and stupid over-the-top expressions.

At least such programs are memorable and have some kind of character, unlike the vast majority of "stroking to elevator music" crap that we see in skating.

It is nice to see something different- when a skater is willing to leave her comfort zone, etc. Of course, "different" can mean many things, not all of them good.

Thanks for the link Sylvia. Cute photo of Rachael taking a nap and I like the baseball cap look on her too.

I agree, I may not be a big fan of her skating but she looks cute and very happy in those pics! Looks like the west coast is treating her well :)
