If it's in St. Paul, then I can finally go back to the Mall of America and see the other two thirds of it, LOL  My friends and I only got about one third around that darned thing when I was there in 2008 and I've been wanting to go back there and see the rest of it ever since. Go St. Paul!! :cheer: :P

Just noticed this bit of information from an online roundup story that ran 01/26/12 on ESPN.com:

The site for the 2014 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, which will serve as the trials for the Sochi Olympics, will be announced by May 1....

Maybe the decision will be made sooner?

3 days to go before May 1st. let's hope an announcement is made.

At the rate they're going, it will be May 1, 2014. It will be the first ever stealth Nationals. And then they'll wonder why the TV ratings went down!:scream:

Well. Today is May 1. The office is open at US Figure Skating Headquarters, and nothing is on the website yet... if someone catches the announcement, please share! :)

I heard rumors that: A) Boston put in a bid for 2014 Nationals, B) the process was delayed because NBC changed the dates to avoid a football conflict so C) all the bidders had to revise their plans and thus, D) the announcement of the venue has been pushed back to June 1.

Don't know how much, if any of that is true but it makes sense.

Not entirely... but I'm ever the optimist!

I ("am" is fading, so...) ... uh, was hoping there was some non-US Figure Skating (legal, contract, whatever) reason that would make them stick to a May 1 announcement. ;)

Regardless of the location, given the apparent timing of Nationals during an Olympic year, I truly hope the local organizing committee can get the backing of the local audiences to a significant enough extent to make for decent sized attendance. Otherwise, it will be very disappointing for the sport and for the skaters. Come on! It's an Olympic year!

 I was so excited about it being the first week of January. NBC sucks!

So it definitely won't be the first week of January? Anyone know what the new dates are?

All I heard was that something (I don't know what exactly) had to be pushed back and the hotels, venues, publicity events had to all be changed.
