Not a fan of Shae-Lynn's skating. Someone with her ability should be able to incorporate solo circular and/or straight line footworks into her routines, but she never does; Instead, we get the same old tired hydro blading and vamping.
I can agree only partially with that. Probably Shae-Lynn's ability would allow her that. But, at the same time, she was an ice dancer originally, not a single skater. Plus, as someone who's intersted in more than just technical elements, I can appreciate her choreographies, her abilities as a dancer and, simply, her charm and energy on ice.

Not sure about Yu-Na's Fever. I think if Sandra Bezic had done that choreography people would've called it whoreography . I guess I was expecting something less obvious from David Wilson.
I think, you're exaggerating. Sexy per se doesn't mean vulgar/whorelike. In my opinion, Yuna's 'Fever' program is really sexy withouth being vulgar, and, in it, she shines like the star that she is.

In my opinion, Stephane seemed a bit slow and off today - but I still love his Don't Stop the Music number. In contrast to more energetic and flamboyant Kurt and Florent, Stephane today tried to play the more "artsy" role, but his jumps seemed a bit off.
As Stephane's fan I can agree that he was a bit slower than usual. But I wouldn't call a jump not being perfect - "off". At least, not from Stephane - it happens quite often with him, and it's pretty non-essential in his programs. Probably his mood was a bit off, though, as, to me, he also seemed a bit less expressive and emotional than at other times. Although I have too see more videos to tell for sure.

As for "artsy" - Stephane doesn't "try to play" the artsy role. He IS artsy. Or, better said, he is an artist.

I don't see any off mood, only different type of expression. He skated very much into the music, focusing entirely on interpretation and less on projection which is suitable in this kind of program although not everybody will like it. I think his skating has been evolving in some new direction lately, it has become more restraint and intellectual, with greater focus on complex detail and building artistic vision than skating all in flowing emotions like before, this is reflected in simpler costumes and reducing everything that distracts from the music. His programs were so different from everybody else, deep and detached.

Maybe he is too "artsy" for this show. But possibly only Stephane can skate with Rachmaninov in his own musical universe amidst the screaming Korean fans and make them shut up so I can hear the music (which is accomplishment by itself, Korean fans are great but there is place for everything screams and silence)

I'm grateful for what he brings and he does his own thing. He could easily just dance around and make everybody happy. I love watching Kurt and Shae bringing so much joy to the audience with their natural dancing ability and enertaining programs, enjoy Shen/Zhao melodramatic performances, admire Patrick's display of technical skills but there could be some place left for reflective artistry too. I miss that in skating.

Thank you RunnersHigh for your informations!

Yuna's Fever is a new thing for her,I don't think it's perfect,but it's a good try.I think she can do much better next time~
Patrick finally got what he should get,a good response from the audience.
as for Lambiel, not a fan,but I think his performance this time fit his programs.Don't stop the music is a pop song, but not like other pop song used in this show,it's more lyrical, and have kind of "lazy""nasty" mood.He seems try to fit the music rhythm rather than just skating and dancing.
to be honest,I don't like Amodio's pro this time...he's very talent, but Morozov never make a good pro for him.pity.
Kurt Browning is so great, can't believe he's so energetic as a teenager LOL
SZ is much more relax than on Artristy on Ice show.PS:they posted pics on their official sitea cake from the fans (http://ww3.sinaimg.cn/large/65c2bfb2jw1dk3vbryz0pj.jpg),Zhao and Chan (http://ww2.sinaimg.cn/large/65c2bfb2jw1dk3v5az4n2j.jpg),OH!Kurt! and VM (http://ww4.sinaimg.cn/large/65c2bfb2jw1dk3v6zax3yj.jpg),very cute

Yes, I agree with you, and on reflection, that's what I noticed. He was different from others in terms of what he was seeking - interpretation v. projection, as you say. And people still screamed madly for him, as he is the most popular male skater and the King who has been in every single Yuna show.

Intrigued by the discussion, I watched Lambiel, and I am in awe of where he is going. It would have been so easy to play it safe and capitalize on his success, and he is going further into artistic interpretation. He is "artsy" only as Baryshnikov or Nureyev are "artsy", going ever deeper into music interpretation with his body. And it's even more laudable when he has such easy charm, it would have cost him nothing to capitalize on it rather than going stark for Rachmaninov and "bluesy modern dance" on us for "Please Don't Stop the Music". He could have just recycled his Romeo for years to come with great success, and he chose not to.
My esteem for Lambiel grows every year.

Stephane was an absolute joy to watch, especially in his Rachmaninov program. Never thought he was "off"; it was a way of expressing the mood imo.
Having said that, this show was an extremely well-balanced one in terms of men's figure skating. Stephane brought elegance and artistry, kurt presented the essence of joyful show skating, florent was on a fire and patrick represented restless, pure skating combined with power. What should I expect more in men's skating?

Sarah's gala is a total surprise, I mean I've never seen this girl this provokative. WOW Irina's number reminds me of her heyday somehow. Her magnificent jumps and her movements really suit the majestic music:)

Oh, man Lambiel's Rachmaninov is fantastic. I knew he'd bring his fabulous musicality to this music when I saw the program list, but wow, he's naturl born artist!

As for Yuna's fever, again, like Bezic once said, "That GAL CAN MOVE!"

I looooooooove every bit of performances in Act 2! Shae's Wakawaka was really agreable with her and the audience, Kurt's Honey which is a Kpop song he choose only for Korean fans according to some articles is absolutely groove lifter! I think he should consider this gala as his regular one in other shows

The crowds just can't help themselves at V/M's samba medley and Shen/Zhao's table performance was real fun and entertaining. Last but not least, Yuna's Homage To Korea was very moving and also made my nerves bouncing when I immediately imagined about how it would be great to see her next competitive season with this performance:D

This show rocks people, thank you yuna fans for these incredible fancams! IT'S LIKE I'VE BECOME ONE OF THE AUDIENCE!

But aren't there any of S/P's numbers? I was especially looking forward to their "Let's go crazy" performance :(

I can agree practically with everything that you say. I guess, I just used the wrong word to express what I meant. I should have only used "expressive", but not "emotional". Actually, I didn't even mean the programs themselves. It's not like this is the first time that I see them. Believe me, I am following everything that Stephane does quite diligently. So, naturally, I first saw those programs when they were premiered, and have seen every performance of them (sadly, only on video). It just seemed to me that this time Stephane's movements and postures in 'Prelude in G minor' were a bit less precise and expressive (probably those aren't even the right words, but I don't know how to otherwise say it) than at other times. In 'Don't Stop the Music' he also seemed a bit less expressive to me than in the 'ATS Spring' performances of this program. But, as I said, without seeing other videos, I can't tell for sure. Probably it's just those specific videos of not perfect quality (for a fan video) that doesn't really capture Stephane's expression and mood.

As for the programs themselves, I truly like them. 'Don't Stop the Music' is now in my top 5 of Stephane's programs. 'Prelude in G minor' is very good too, although I think that the choreography could have been even more detailed if Stephane would have had more time to make it. But I too love him for being so diverse and versatile in his programs, choices of music and his expression. I wouldn't love Stephane Lambiel even half as much as I do if he only did easy, charming programs like 'Let the good times roll', or purely romantic ones like 'Un giorno per noi' ('Romeo'). And I have nothing against him being "artsy" while others are entertaining, easy and/or fun, and thus setting himself apart. That is one more reason why I love him so.
