:cheer2: Happy for her!

That's great! :cheer2: But what happened to NYU?

Congrats to Sasha!

Terrific news.

I misread the thread title and thought that she was going to return to competition as a representative of the country of Colombia....

Where she decides to go Congrats Sasha! And best of luck! :respec:

Or she could have been waitlisted.

Perhaps but the title of this thread states she was 'accepted'. However I've yet to see any links in this regard.
Guess we'll have to see if Sasha confirms this herself. Maybe she'll finally update her website with this news.

I think they meant that the reason why Sasha is going to Columbia vs. NYU might be that she was waitlisted at NYU and accepted at Columbia.

uh... didn't she say that she was accepted and going to attend NYU?
That's what I recall - her fan forum announced that a while ago.

I saw that tweet and it didn't seem to be legitimate. There's no source or other news on the web about it. It just came out of nowhere; you'd think Sasha or SOI would announce it.

Could be a prank.

Sasha's fan forum dissolved months ago, before either of those articles about NYU came out if I recall.

And I don't see why USFSA would announce something like this as a prank.

Congratulations to 2006 Olympic Silver Medalist Sasha Cohen accepted at Columbia University

Lynn Plage is a veteran figure skating public relations person (for COI and SOI tours and skaters, for example) and is a legitimate source of information. She tweeted this news yesterday (same as what was posted on FB): https://twitter.com/#!/lplage/status/86869147325169666

Good for her. Solid life decision.

I saw Sasha on the Today show not too long ago and she said she was going to NYU--in their adult studies program. That doesn't mean she hasn't changed her plans, but the NYU thing was not a rumor. It came straight from Sasha herself.

You might need another one to take the 'edge' off, Overedge. I am glad Ms. Cohen is going for higher education. NYU, Columbia, whatever. It seems like pro skating is at an ebb, and I congratulate her on making this decision. So I guess "yay Sasha".

Maybe Sasha was just at NYU for some spring/summer term?

Anyway, good for her! :cheer2: Sasha!
