So happy that Evan came back this year!! Surprised to see Zhang at SA entry..thought she did not make minimum score?? Not too many committed for 3GP's...

Evan! :cheer2: Certainly will make things intriguing..

Sad that Mroz got two, while Mahbanoozadeh only got one. Maybe Armin can pick up the TBD at SA if he skates well at Liberty.

Also surprised that C. Zhang got the SA spot, I would've rather seen someone with some success last year at US Nationals (Joelle Forte, Kristiene Gong, Melissa Bulanhagui).

Too bad about Stolbova and Klimov getting only Trophee Eric Bompard, but maybe they'll get that undetermined third Russian spot at Rostelecom Cup?

Evan :cheer:

I am very bummed about either Machida and Mura not getting a spot. :(

One of them may get TBD in NHK Trophy but the other has to end up with no GPS at all then he would probably get no Season Best for the season, which means no GPS for the 2012/13 season again :wuzrobbed:

I thought there was supposed to be an official alternate list. Will the ISU publish it at some point? Will they just take the next available skater in the ISU standings?

Wondering the same thing about Volosozhar/Trankov and Cup of Russia...

Maybe the RFSF wants French fans to see them at TEB before the Worlds in Nice and they don't prefer to do back-to-back GPs?

If this is the reason, this would be a smart move as hundreds of the same fans will be present at Nice and the rest of the local fans will have watched their performance on TV.TEB is the only GP broadcast on French national television.

Barring injuries or something, Mura will get the NHK spot. Machida has a relatively high SB score among no GP skaters. He can expect to fill a vacancy.

Ando said she did not have enough time to prepare programs for the new season

That's a lame excuse. It's the end of June, and she doesn't have time to come up with programs for October ? Um, ok. Besides, doesn't Morozov recycles the same choreography and only switches the music anyway? Just throw in some different hands stroking the face gestures to fool the audience :P

The assignment of Zhang makes perfect sense to me. The top 6 US ladies got two assignments; the next two are doing the JGP. Beyond that, there is really only one US lady who is a 'known commodity' and can help draw a crowd, and that's Caroline. Sure, Forte/Bulanhagui/Gong finished a few points over her at Nats; but Zhang's past record far exceeds those three. (And one of them will probably get the TBD slot.)

The thing is, Zhang's been on a downward slope for the past three seasons, while the other three have been steadily improving. I understand the assignment perfectly, but I still don't agree with it.

For those who are doing three competitions, do they get to pick the best two out of three or do they pick the two that count in advance? I have heard it both ways.

Question: why are the Shibs doing back-to-back GPs?
