I am glad to see Evan Lysacek is returning to competition!

Glad they're finally up. US skaters maybe close but without an assignment- Keegan Messing, Grant Hochstein, Max Aaron, Andrews/Leduc, Cannuscio/McManus. Also missing but less likely: Poapst/Knirem, Donlan/Speroff, Davis/Leftheris, Jon Cassar, Doug Razzano, Kiri Baga, Kristiene Gong, Joelle Forte, Melissa Bulanhagui, Amanda Dobbs, Alexe Gilles.

Good for Vise/Baldwin to get one! Rachael Flatt, just focus on school girl! :yikes: Caroline Zhang :slinkaway - was hoping they'd leave 2 spots TBA, at this point I think she should be made to earn it since the last few seasons were kinda rough, even though I get she's attempting to make major improvements...I'd like to see others get a shot too with good summer results....but we'll see what happens!

The reduction of the number of skaters in each event is very bad news for the sport, I feel.

OMFG. Evan!

Of course, as in years past, these looks will look drastically different come competition time. I hope someone like a LaFuente or Cheltzie Lee get a slot if they qualify.

Man, KVDP and Pang/Tong are in it for the long haul. Bummed there's no Suguri -- did she finally retire or just place too low at Japanese Nationals? Surprised we aren't seeing one of the talented Japanese juniors move up but now that Gao, Tuktamisheva and Sotnikova are on the senior GP it gives them some breathing room on the JGP.

Really excited about seeing the Russian ladies.

Also wanted to say that if you told me eight years ago Don Baldwin would be on the GP, I would've said hell to the no. Good for him.

The pairs event for the GPF could easily end up being more than 50% Russian teams. :cheer2:

I think it is very likely that three out of six pairs teams in GPF will be Russian. Last year there were 2 teams, and Volosozhar/Trankov couldn't compete yet, and Kavaguti/Smirnov were injured so they competed only in one GP event. I think it is even possible that there will be 4 Russian pair teams in GPF. My guess would be:

Savchenko-Szolkovy
Pang-Tong
Kavaguti-Smirnov
Volosozhar-Trankov

and the last 2 spots will be anyone from:
Bazarova-Larionov
Iliushechkina-Maisuradze
Gerboldt-Enbert
Sui-Han
Zhang-Zhang

Is Plushenko not on there because he didn't compete last year? (Neither did Evan but I have no idea how this works.)

I was hoping Cheltzie Lee would get one :(

Glad to see Zhignashina / Gaszi back on the SGP. The last time they were on was 2007!

I was hoping that Peter Liebers would get the last one, he might not be back to shape after his injury in time. ... keeping my fingers crossed though!

i'm somewhat out of the loop here but did Yu-Na announce she's not competing?

olympic

Some notes -

1. Yu Na is not going to compete on the GP circuit?
2. I'm :yikes: that Mirai has to skate back-to-back in Canada and then China the next week. Won't that be exhausting?
3. USFSA gives Caroline Zhang the spot at SA?
4. Sotnikova and Tuktymasheva will compete on the GP circuit, BUT not at Worlds due to age [if they were to make the team]?
5. Dornbush has 2 GP assignments :)

The biggest  is Evan competing. Everyone knows I've been a big defender of his. However, unless he wants to look like a fool, he needs to come READY w/ at least a Quad for this cycle. He's going head to head against Chan at TEB! He has said a nagging injury kept him from the Quad in '09 and '10. I really hope he's over that and can do it.

Olympic - you summed it up! I'm surprised that CZ was giving a GP she can drive to. Guess it pays to be represented by Shep. This is assuming that it wasn't a random assignment, but that USFSA picked her.

I'm thrilled that Cain/Reagan got one assignment. :cheer:

The only justification I can find for Caroline Zhang getting SA is that she's a local pick. I hope Bulanhagui or Dobbs gets the open spot.
