I recently listened to the soundtrack from "How to Train Your Dragon" and thought it delightful on it's own (and for skaters.) There are a lot of soundtracks I enjoy but what to know what you like to hear ( whether applicable to skating or not.)

- Brazil (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EfgZ2oImXk&feature=related)
- The Draughtsman's Contract (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WN-blEim2pc) (Probably my favorite of all of these. RIP Boob Spider (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=362nqSu4vQk&t=2m11s) and may the rest of us carry on (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bn0HfYkDGs)...)
- Fairytale of Wanderings (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGsgG8nNVdk) (Yeah, I like telling other people how much I like this.)
- The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PwpOmjAu1M)
- The Hours (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj6BLyqTKDo)
- King's Row (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIbTqPWJF_M) (Not great enough to make me forget about the Iran-Contra affair, but still excellent (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2kmj8RL6-Y).)
- Philip Glass' alternative score to La Belle et la Bete (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r34abqPim8k)
- La Strada (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Il9rLAg7Ezc)
- Miller's Crossing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2YPsfwSPGg)
- Underground (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEjley5HKBE) (Of course, "Kalashnikov" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtX-V4OE50Y&feature=related) is one of more durable earworms out there.)
- Vertigo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kC5AzFc3coo)

So many - a lot I've got to know through skating :D Some I've bought on the strength of the music (not necessarily seeing the movie)

Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves
Dragon (The Bruce Lee Story)
Sense & Sensibility
The Mission
Mr. Holland's Opus (soundtrack & score)
Forrest Gump (soundtrack & score)
Little Women
Back to the Future Trilogy
First Knight
Independence Day
The American President
Jurassic Park (many John Williams' soundtracks, for that matter)
The King's Speech
Legends of the Fall
Fantasia (1940, 2000)
Disney Movies (Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin, Lion King, Mary Poppins, Mulan, Little Mermaid, Tarzan, Pocohontas, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules)
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Father of the Bride (1 & 2)
Babe
Swing Kids
Apollo 13
Gone With the Wind
The 10 Commandments
A Clockwork Orange
Amadeus
Life is Beautiful
Topsy Turvy (Gilbert & Sullivan)

Shakespeare in Love
Gettysburg
Exodus

This doesn't even include Broadway musical soundtracks from movies - a whole different category - Gigi, My Fair Lady, the Sound of Music, etc.

I think the score for Lawrence of Arabia is the most gorgeous I ever heard.

I also love Last of the Mohicans.

If we're extending this to TV shows, I love the soundtracks from The Sopranos and Justified. Deadwood also had some fierce good stuff, and of course there was the ever-nostalgic Ken Burns Civil War....
