According to information I received earlier this summer, Kristine Musademba is starting college full-time in the fall and will not be competing in the coming season (she hasn't officially announced her retirement but very few skaters do these days).

The vast majority of skaters just stop competing without making any formal announcements.

I guess that is because they want to keep their options open.

And unless I was a massively huge star, it would feel somehow silly to officially announce that I wasn't skating competitively any more.

I like Otar's skating. Too bad if he is retiring - is he coming back to the US or is he going back home, I wonder. I wish him the best in whatever he does next.

Heard that next season they may now be training with Simon & Debbie Briggs in Scotland. Programmes are def done (Lorna Brown) so they must be planning to continue.
Jenna listed at IJS with Simon & Debbie Briggs so I guess thats her sorted for this season?

What's happening with John? What about Melissa Bulanhagui?

If the retirement rumour is indeed true, I imagine he's going to stay in the US. He's Sinead Kerr's boyfriend, isn't he?

What's happening with John? What about Melissa Bulanhagui?

I remember reading about John having had some business success in the past so I would imagine he's going to continue with that (anybody knows more details?).

Melissa Bulanghui plans to compete next season, from what I know. And a lot of us are hoping for a Skate America open spot for her, or at least another Senior B.

Russian Federation banned their coaches, making use of state resources, from coaching foreign skaters

An exception has been made for Morozov, as he is very much wanted by the federation.

He's going to continue coaching Ando and will be allowed to work with other skaters as a consultant.

Cappellini/LaNotte will spend half of the month with him and half in Italy. Amodio is going to split his time between France (Annick Dumont) and Moscow, after spending a month in US with Zakrajsek.

Team Event added to Olympics

A positive development coming from that: JSF is starting a Pairs/Dance program.

Faiella/Scali returning... or are they?

Good question.

Changes to Grand Prix format

Top 6 at Worlds allowed to do 3 events. Number of spots reduced to 10 for Singles and 8 for Ice Dance. A minimum score (2/3 of top previous season score) is introduced (although Peter Krick has now talked about scrapping that).

Krasnopolski imprisoned for desertion

A court sent him to prison for 15 days (don't worry, as Tahbka said army prisons are more like summer camps) for desertion.

Israeli Fed claimed they agreed with the Army about postponing his service till after Worlds. The Army claimed they didn't agree to such thing.

Cyprus, Grenada and Morocco made provisional ISU members

Third tier NA skaters celebrate.

Thanks to everybody who has shared info in this and other threads. I've just compiled it.

Any competition photos of Kayla and her new Partner yet?

When did Kaliegh Hole Split? What happened?

Are there any other Freestyle Retirements in the Ladies?

New (I think) Junior British pair: Shelley Thomson & Rhys Brown, entered at Junior level for Sheffield IJS (performance squad monitoring event). Also Joseph Buckland (previous JGP competitor with Danielle Bennett) is competing with Olivia Smart at the same event (dance). Remains to be seen whether either will be selected for JGP competitions.

When did Kaliegh Hole Split? What happened?

He retired to go to school.

That needs to be updated.

Kaela Pflumm and Matteo Guarise have split recently (before they've even competed once ;P) and Matteo Guarise is reported to be having a tryout with Caitlin Yankowskas.

When did Kaliegh Hole Split? What happened?

After the end of last season. He retired, she's going to focus on single skating.

Are there any other Freestyle Retirements in the Ladies?

Nothing we know about.

What's happening with John? What about Melissa Bulanhagui?

Melissa - she will be competing this upcoming season. More exciting news to be revealed mid-October :)

09-03-2011, 05:35 AM
i'm guessing that Mellisa Bulanhagui got Finlandia. This should probably go in a different thread but has anyone heard anything about Kristine Musademba, Kristiene Gong, Ellie Kawamura, and Amanda Dobbs?

I think Musademba was injured but that was a long time ago. I remember a post about Gong quitting which is very said, but I'd like a confirmation on this one. According to her twitter, Kawamura is still skating, but is there any news? Same thing with Amanda Dobbs, any news about her recovery and singles/pairs? I hope either Kawamura or Dobbs get a Finlandia spot too!

Crushed about Musademba. She was so promising just two seasons ago... :fragile:
