... It’s a pity that he’s not the one going back to singles. He’s beautiful freeskater.

I don't get the impression that Vanessa is planning on competing in singles, only that she wants to pass her senior free skate test. It sounds to me like she has reached her goals and it is time to move on with her life. Going to university and coaching seem to be the plan. The senior free skate test was probably a goal when she started and she wants to reach that too.

ETA: ITA, Paul is a beautiful free skater!

Damn, I looved them, more so than W&P and was expecting to see both teams battling it out this next season.

They were a rising team and its sad they couldnt find motivation to keep going after their first stumbling year. Are they looking for new partners?

Bright side: Paul&Islam get to go to worlds ..

WOW I am shocked. I always liked this talented team. Their programs were always fresh and different. I will miss them.

first  of the off season??

First?! where've you been the last month?

mmm well this explains why they did not have good showing at gpf and worlds.....
WOW i am really shocked they seemed to be on the rise =(

 Unexpected! And they've been competing since they were kids! They could have gone places!

Wow. I didn't expect that.

Your nominations for next unexpected breakup/pairing:
1. Virtue/Moir break up, saying they have loathed each other for years and couldn't stand it any more.
2. Yankowskas pairs up with a completely healed and newly balletic Jeremy Barrett.
3. Inoue/Baldwin announce their intention to skate throughout Rena's pregnancy and broadcast the birth on Ice Network.

This is a really weird off-season.

:rofl::rofl: Would love to see #2, though!

Wow, sorry to see them split. I really enjoyed their creativity and the new exciting moves that they brought to ice dance. BTW, heard another prominent Lane team split Oliveira/Hockley (2nd Junior Canadians). What an off season for sure.

I did get the feeling they were semi-dumped at worlds...

I confess I want him to get another partner, just so I can continue arse-watch.:slinkaway

Wow. I didn't expect that.

2. Yankowskas pairs up with a completely healed and newly balletic Jeremy Barrett.

I read this as Jeremy Abbott. I think I'm still in shock about Vanessa and Paul.

I guess the pseudo-dumping at Worlds was too much to take. Too bad.

Good luck to both as they start the next phase of their lives.

this is quite the dramatik off season :fragile:

I'm still surprised. Teams have been dumped before and come back with new coaches/new looks/new politik and kept on going.

Wowza!

I'm surprised as well, but as someone else noted above, Olympic team member and Canadian National Champions is a very impressive accomplishment. If Vanessa isn't ready to commit through 2014, stopping now gives Paul the best chance to get another partner and be ready to compete for a spot on the Sochi team.

Good luck to each of them in this next stage.

 Not sure my poor lil' heart will survive the off-season! :(
