What I cannot possibly fathom is, if this was in any way an accident that didn't result from some sort of abuse or neglect on Casey's part and that her father/parents help cover it up....would Casey seriously have sat in jail for 3 years and risk going to trial and potentially getting the death penalty and not say anything? If this was the scenario her defense presented (or ANY accident that was not her fault) she would have thrown her father under the bus long ago.
And the celebration her defense team held was rather appalling. Show just a little bit of class and respect for that little girl. Casey was not acquitted because of her defense--she was acquitted in spite of them.
Frankly I think the prosecution would have celebrated just the same as the defense did had it been the reverse decision. Some of them are making the rounds just as defense attorneys are. And I'm sure some of them are going to make plenty of $$$ just as some of the defense attorneys will-all benefiting from Caylee's death. Casey won't be the only one cashing in. The unseemly behavior by the defence is no less unseemly than what I've seen from all sides since the verdict so far. It's just showier.

As a woman of latin descent I found Frau Muller's remarks on the subject cringe-inducing, embarassing and certainly not the point of view of all latinos. Speaking only for myself I never once thought about race, or ethnicity watching this trial, the OJ trial nor any other high profile trial. I could care less that Baez spoke to his family at the press conference in Spanish. I only thought about the victim and the evidence that would hopefully put the killer away.
THIS
double jeopardy only attaches to actions underlying the crimes she was charged with. So she can't be charged with murder 1, aggravated child abuse and manslaughter because she's been acquitted of those charges. She can't be charged with, say, assault, for the same 'alleged' actions that were the basis for the charge of aggravated child abuse, imo.
But assuming neglect isn't included in the aggrvated child abuse charge, I would argue that the convictions for lying to the police do not involve reaching a determination on the "ultimate fact" of whether or not she was guilty of criminal child neglect. Therefore, she should be able to be charged with that crime. My argument might not win, but it's worth a shot, imo. Really, the lying to police happened AFTER the 31 days she failed to report her missing child. It's the failure to report that is the neglect. So the neglect and the lying to the cops are two very separate things. Again, this is assuming that in FL the neglect is quite separate from the aggravated child abuse.
From what I've found online, it looks like she was arrested for child neglect, and indicted for child neglect, but not charged with child neglect. Was that an oversight or a deliberate choice by the prosecutors?
I answered my own question...apparently, you can't neglect a dead child. That is why child neglect charges were dropped.
And....neglect appears to be included in aggravated child abuse statute, so casey anthony has effectively been acquitted of pre-mortem child neglect - ugh....never mind.
Wow, the prosecution really should have hammered on that aspect of the charge, but I'm guessing they felt doing so would undercut their argument that this was premeditated murder. Given their lack of foresic proof on that issue, they really overplayed their evidence. They had to know that their cause of death problems might lead people to believe CAylee's death wasn't murder or the result of any action by Casey or anyone else.
However, at least 2x in this whole investigation, she was arrested for theft. So why was she never tried on those charges?

Her release date has been pushed back to July 17th.

Is there a reason why?

Don't know, just saw it on a ticker during the shuttle launch.

I think they recalculated the time she's been in jail and the time off for good behavior.

anything done to her dead body is not a crime as bad as it sounds.
I believe there are 'Abuse or mutilation of a corpse' laws in Florida and some other States.
You must not have seen the rest of the comments where this was already addressed.
Of course it is. When I worked in media, I reported on a trial where a man was sent to jail for 2 years under the criminal code offence of offering indignity to a body.
You're right I was under minding what happened to her after her death verses the way in which she died; when in reality anyone can be charged with several crimes in relation to a deceased body. The prosecution should have added that charge, but for some reason didn't.

I doubt they will make a fuss over her except to make her pay back the tax payers. I'm sure they don't want her making any money on this. She has quite a bill to pay back I'm sure. Hopefully they will make it a crime not to report your child missing although it's sad they even have too.
Yes, there was -- on the Lifetime Channel, of course. The producers of that one perhaps may be regretting doing it so soon ... if she gets a new trial or the conviction is overturned.
There have been lots of movies about unsympathetic characters ... including mothers who killed their young children ... Small Sacrifices with Farrah Fawcett is just one.
Didn't Dean Cain portray Scott Peterson in a made-for-TV movie about Laci's murder/the trial, etc.? Lord knows there have been enough movies/tv docudramas about infamous serial killers - off the top of my head, Helter Skelter and other movies about the Manson family; Silence of the Lambs (based on the serial killer Ed Gein), Citizen X (HBO movie about the Russian serial killer Andrei Tikachilo aka The Butcher of Rostov), Monster about Eileen Wuornos, Summer of Sam, Reversal of Fortune (Klaus Von Bulow).
Was there ever a movie made about the JonBenet Ramsey murder (I know there have been books about it)? I don't recall any movies about Susan Smith or Andrea Yates….
****
While double-jeopardy attaches to the charges in this trial, if there were to be anything uncovered in the future to support it in the future, could ICA possibly be charged with Conspiracy, or does that fall under the DJ umbrella?

I could be wrong but I think there MAY be a TV movie about JonBenet Ramsey. I think it's "Chikatilo" for the Russian serial killer but it's a tongue twister.

I didn't think there was one, but you are right! The 2000 movie, Perfect Murder, Perfect Town (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0221768/), actually has some recognizable actors instead of the "no names" this type of movie usually features.

Jose Baez has signed with the Paradigm Agency. Bet that we'll be seeing him on "Dancing With the Stars" or a similar show someday. Maybe he'll do "Apprentice" and Trump can fire him? Even better, Nancy Grace and Jose Baez together on "Apprentice"!

OK, now that the trial and sentencing are over...What's next for Headline News and Nancy Grace? Sure, for the next couple of days they'll trumpet "BREAKING NEWS: COUNTDOWN TO RELEASE!"
After that, what? Will NG be in a helicopter, following every van than leaves the Orange Country Jail? If release is on Wed., July 13, (or 17th or whatever) you know that reporters will be suspecting ANY vehicle that pulls out of the jail after one minute past midnight.
After that, what? Will Nancy Grace hire moles in every potential locale in the US or abroad where "Elvis-Casey" may be sighted? The possibilities are endless!

And he was unsigned within a day:

There was a rumor that Jerry Springer offered 1 million dollars for the whole Anthony family to appear on his show:

It's pretty bad when Jerry Springer is offended!
