Loved the SP. I think they look incredibly promising especially given how little time they've been together as a pair.

Here's the video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cxx2jKW0ukU

Filming credit goes to Lara, thanks again! :D

Well, that was a promising debut and not the train wreck that I think many here were hoping it would be ;)

Thanks for posting this, Jenny.

Thanks for the video. I must say that I wasn't so sure about this pairing when I first heard about it, but maybe they have something here. They looked pretty good for their first time out! Loved the triple twist and sbs jumps. Although Caydee with bun and that dress kinda reminded me of Caitlin!

I would think that they were very aware of the sentiment out in the greater skating community and knew that they would have to deliver a program that was surprising in terms of its initial quality. If they didn't know, they would have been living under a rock. Denney still needs a few sessions on the rack to stretch her out more. ;)

I thought it was Caitlin's dress at first glance.

The basic elements are there. Let's see how the program matures over the season.

Good buddy and parent of another pairs skater competing at Liberty messaged me on Facebook that they met John and described him as one of the nicest people she's ever met. Very solid debut, these two have a lot or promise. Much more elegant look for Caydee.

Edited to add: Just spoke to her, John apparently went out of his way to speak to the younger male pairs partners, wishing them luck, etc. Not just "have a great skate," but taking the time to speak with each one, "friend me on Facebook." She described him as a terrific ambassador for USFS.

Not sure where to put this. Admin, please move as you see fit. Pj Kwong interviewed Caydee and John after their short program at Liberty: Caydee Denney and John Coughlin - A Tale of 2 Champions (http://apps.pjkwong.com/blog/?e=68354&d=07/15/2011&s=Caydee%20Denney%20and%20John%20Coughlin%20%2D%20 A%20Tale%20of%202%20Champions)

Interesting article - I get from the article that 1) John was ready to retire but Dalilah convinced him to team up with Caydee, so maybe John didn't leave Caitlin for Caydee per se. 2) The 2 skaters have a good emotional bond.

WOW that they've been only together 2 months. But, I think the real test will be with the LP [fatigue, etc.]

AFAIK they're not skating the LP. Understandable if there wasn't enough time to prepare.

I thought the program looked great on youtube.
I hope they have a great season.

I am not hoping for a train wreck, but it's going to hard for me to root for this team.

I really am impressed with their program, especially with the short time they have been skating together, I never get tired of the music East of Eden.

Caydee looks wonderful and is showing more maturity in her skating and John especially seems to have a spark in his skating which is nice to see. I think they have good chemistry which is also important.

As far as height, I see no problem with that, many pairs have tall men with shorter women (some a lot much shorter than Caydee), I care more about how they skate then their height.

I wish Caydee and John the best for this coming season and I have something to look forward to seeing them skate.

She looks quite a bit more refined skating-wise, and the costuming, hair, and makeup also helps. It didn't look like they were carrying a lot of speed, but it is certainly early days. So far, I'd say it is a huge improvement for her. The step sequence does not look great, and not just because of unison issues. I suspect that they'll get the pairs spin issues resolved with more practice.

Hate the way they chopped up EoE, however, and completely unsure why. Weird repeats and edits, and to a piece of music that is just about the perfect length for an SP to start with.

Elements are impressive, especially considering how short they've been skating together.

Caydee's basics seem to have improved somewhat. She does indeed pay more attention to her posture, lines and extensions now. John on the other hand... :P

However, I will echo what has been said already.

They are as exciting as Zhangs.

And choreography is rather generic.
