And I found this interesting little article on my travels for those of us facsinated w/the Tudor Era...

History Today ~ Lady Mary Seymour : An Unfit Traveller (http://historytoday.com/linda-porter/point-departure-unfit-traveller)

It's a short, but interesting, article on the child of Queen Katherine Parr and Sir Thomas Seymour and her possible fate. Poor little thing never really had much of a chance from the little I know of her. Which isn't much and is mentioned in the article.

Interesting - the Peerage.com has her dying at just a few days old, and I think the epitaph could reflect that. http://www.thepeerage.com/p10152.htm#i101512

The Act of Parliament in 1550 would say otherwise, but at the same time, there had to be a lot of Mary Seymours around at the time, no?

Anyway...I thought some here would be interested in taking a look at it.

Thanks for that link. I'm doing some research on Elizabeth right now and was reading about the incident with Thomas Seymour last night. The book I was reading makes no mention of what happened to the child after Catherine's death and I was wondering.

Who knows. There were so many Marys, Annes, Margarets and etc in the Noble Houses during that time period, it makes my head spin at times when I'm reading about that era. You're right about what The Peerage.com has to say and it fitting the epitaph, but in reality, I don't think we'll ever know for sure what happened to the poor little mite. Other than she passed away when very little.

We're only hours away from William and Catherine stepping on Canadian soil!! I've been going through the CBC's site they've put together for the Tour and discovered this...

CBC News ~ Royal Tour ~ Prince William's personal flag in Canada revealed (http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/williamandkate/story/2011/06/29/pol-royal-personal-flags-gg.html)

Actually, the proper term is Standard, not flag. Oh and see the scallop shell in the middle of the white border? That's also on William's Coat of Arms and is a Spencer heraldic symbol. It's on Harry's too and was a way for the boys to honour their Mother's Memory.

A Canadian Standard was also created for Charles and his and William's are the first Canadian Royal Standards created since The Queen's. Links to pictures of all three Royal Standards of Canada are part of that article up there.

Off to find out what time they're arriving and to get the DVR set up for tomorrow!!! :D :D :D

edited to add...The CBC's Royal Tour Website (http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/features/royalvisit/)

Monaco denies trouble in paradise (http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2011/0630/breaking18.html)

Final preparations are being made in Monaco for the wedding of Prince Albert II and South African swimmer Charlene Wittstock amid rumours that the bride had tried to call it off.

The palace vehemently denied a report by French weekly L’Express that Ms Wittstock (33), a former Olympic swimmer, recently tried to leave on a one-way flight to South Africa.

“These rumours have no other goal than to severely damage the reputation of the monarch and thereby that of Ms Wittstock and severely undermine this happy event,” the palace said in a statement.

The royal wedding festivities kick-off today with the Eagles concert!

So will US viewers be able to see the Monaco Royal Wedding live?

Since Kate Middleton copied Grace Kelly's wedding gown...I wonder if Charleen Wittstock will copy Lady Di's?

You mean Princess Diana? I doubt it. Isn't Charlene wearing one of the top designers out there?

Latest spin from the Palace I read was that the Press had confused Charlene's leaving for Greece and the Special Olympics World Summer Games w/what's being reported. I've also read the alleged reason for her trying to break off the Wedding is because she discovered that Albert had fathered yet another illegitimate child in the last year and since the Engagement.

Considering there's two that we know of, it wouldn't shock me if this was true.

Close a half hour until William and Catherine touch down in Ottawa!!!

ETA: They just got off the plane, she looks fabulous :swoon: Her hair is 1/2 up, pulled back from the temples, long down back.

And she did the final 1/2 of the stairs without holding the rail. I don't know why, I just got nervous watching that. :yikes:

Methinks the dress is a white sheath with black lace overlay? (Actually, I have to admit I don't have the gay gene when it comes to guessing fabrics, except for men's suiting. :slinkaway )

Now they're headed to the National War Memorial.

I actually believe Charlene was trying to flee and Wouldn't be surprised at all if there is a third child though I hope for Charlene's sake there isn't.

The pressure she is under to go ahead with the wedding and produce a legitimate heir is just terrible and very Diana-esqe. He should just stay a bachelor and let his nephew inherit.

She's so lovely! Everyone else was struggling with the wind, and she comes off a long flight, into the wind, looking as fresh and gorgeous as can be.

Pardon me, but :swoon:

ITA. What a lovely, beautiful girl. She looks amazing (although, a bit like a toothpick...).

I love that she chose a Canadian designer. Very savvy, that Kate!

I'd so love to get my "kinda similar" hair to look as glamorous as hers. Of course I doubt I'd be any more successful than Charlotta the Fourth trying to imitate Anne of Green Gables.

Definitely :swoon: worthy.

Did they change the law so his nephew can? I seem to recall that it at least used to be the case the ruler of Monaco needed a direct heir.
