I was in London in June 2009 and saw the parade and balcony for Trooping of the Colors. It was really fun and festive. If anyone has a chance to see it, go for it. I found a place on the mall parade route about an 1.5 hour before it stated, front row.
My only complaint, it was not like a parade in the US, the royals go by too quick. But I did get some great pictures anyway and then the balcony was really cool with the fly by. Also had great weather.

About Kate and William's trip to Canada next month...

She is also said to be polishing her French for their tour of Canada, which begins on June 30. She is very much aware that the nation’s sizeable French-speaking population will judge her on her accent and command of the language — the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William are all fluent.

Here's the preliminary official itinerary for William & Kate's visit as announced today:

— Ottawa and National Capital Region from June 30 to July 2.

— Montreal July 2.

— Quebec City July 3.

— Charlottetown July 3-4.

— Summerside July 4.

— Yellowknife July 4-6.

— Calgary July 6-8

Apparently local details are still being worked out but in many cases they will be participating in already scheduled events.

I didn't know that Prince William was fluent in French.

I would expect most royals to be fluent in several European languages.

Guys...I forgot, we have another Royal Wedding coming up in the next few weeks.

On June 18th the Church Wedding, they've already had a Civil Wedding last year before the birth of their son, Princess Nathalie of Berleburg and Alexander Johannsmann will take place. Natalie is the Niece of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and is also close to her cousin Crown Prince Fredrick and his wife Crown Princess Mary. She's also an Olympic Bronze (and I could have that wrong, but I think that's right. I know it's Bronze or Silver) Medalist in Dressage having helped Denmark reach the Podium in the Team Event in Beijing.

Here though is the really exciting news....This Wedding? It's going to be White Tie!!!

What that means is this...Evening gowns for the ladies *and* lots and lots of bling as White Tie means out come the Tiaras, the jewels and the various Orders of the Royal Houses. :D

From what little is known at the moment, the entire Danish Royal Family, w/the exception of Prince Joachim who will be acting as Regent while HM attends the Wedding, and a good portion of the Greek Royal Family will be in attendance. They're all Family, so that's no surprise. Whomever else will coming though isn't known as of yet, but it sure is fun to try and guess. :D

Here's the preliminary official itinerary for William & Kate's visit as announced today:

— Ottawa and National Capital Region from June 30 to July 2.

I'll be on the Hill July 1st. Much earlier than last year as anyone who saw my pictures on FB can attest, I was far away from HM. Insane crowds, of course. (and I'm there almost every year)

I was talking to my sister earlier. There are almost no hotel rooms left in Ottawa for the Canada day weekend so if you need a place to stay during the Royal Visit, you better book now.

I was under the impression the moment after it became known they'd be in Ottawa for Canada Day, the hotel rooms basically went *POOF*!! At least that's what the local Ottawa news was saying a couple of weeks ago when I was there for that yet another waste of time appt.
