Can somebody fill me in on Princess Michael? :watch:This is from 2008, but this blog article (http://scandalouswoman.blogspot.com/2008/08/princess-pushy-fabulous-life-of.html) pretty much sums it up :watch:

Some news on the upcoming visit to Canada of the Cambridges...

Examiner.com ~
The Duchess of Green Gables: Kate insisted on a visit to PEI (http://www.examiner.com/political-buzz-in-toronto/the-duchess-of-green-gables-kate-insisted-on-a-visit-to-pei)

I know *exactly* how she feels if this is true. We visited PEI in 1985 and I'd also grown up w/Anne. I'd told my parents under no circumstances we were leaving the Island before we'd gone to Green Gables. Not only did we go, but I disappeared on them there, as the path that starts at the Haunted Wood takes you on a direct route straight to Lucy Maud Montgomery's gravesite in the little Cemetary. I went to pay my respects, but I'd neglected to tell my parents that.

My parents don't believe in spanking a child unless it's *really* warrented. I didn't get many during my childhood, but I remember *that* one for scaring and aging them about 20 years that day. ;)

Montage of photos of QEII's visit to Ireland (http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2011/05/queen_elizabeth_ii_visits_irel.html)

Too many photos of the chavs protesters as they really were a very small minority.

I love that Kate's insisting on a Green Gables visit! :) I would too if I was visiting the Maritimes. Hope they have a great trip.

Not that I know of. Will have to look at those more indepth sometime tomorrow.

Finally found a picture of Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Fredrick from the Gala Concert (http://picture.belga.be/belgapicture/picture/27362358.html)

The dress has been getting mixed reviews at the Royalty MB, but I like it.

Also...

Royal Insight ~ Rehershal for The Queen's Birthday Parade (http://www.royalinsight.net/british-monarchy/rehearsal-queens-birthday-parade)

Otherwise known as Trooping The Colour. There's video there of last year's TTC at the bottom of the site. This year's even more special as it will be the same day as Prince Phillip's 90th Birthday.

The Queen's Birthday Parade will be held on Saturday 11th June 2011 on Horse Guards Parade. The 1st Battalion Scots Guards will troop their colour in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen, other members of the Royal Family expected to attend and take part in the ceremony.

Expected to take part in the ceremony, are the Royal Colonels:

H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh [Colonel of the Grenadier Guards]
H.R.H. The Prince of Wales [Colonel of the Welsh Guards]
H.R.H. The Duke of Cambridge [Colonel of the Irish Guards]
H.R.H. The Princess Royal [Colonel of the Blues & Royals]
H.R.H. The Duke of Kent [Colonel of the Scot Guards]

Also expected to attend the ceremony are:

H.R.H. The Duchess of Cornwall
H.R.H. The Duchess of Cambridge
T.R.H. The Earl and Countess of Wessex
T.R.H. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester

The highlight will be The Balcony Appearance, as this is the only time of the year where the *entire* Royal Family will be in attendance in public. Or as many Members who show up.

It also never fails that Princess Michael *always* manages to get herself into the same, shall we say, "Photo Zone" every year. ;) Meaning she'll be front and centre and close to HM to get into the Picture.

Don't forget the UEFA Champions League Final later today in London at New Wembley Stadium. For sure TRH The Prince and Princess of the Asturias, Crown Prince Felipe and Crown Princess Letizia will be there to cheer on Barcelona. As I said, I can't not see Prince William there in his role as President of English Football. Especially as there's a British team in the Final. Whether Catherine will go along is another matter though.

Here in Canada, coverage starts at 2pm on Rogers Sportsnet. For those interested that is. :)

The dress has been getting mixed reviews at the Royalty MB, but I like it.It's not bad, but it's too short for the fullness of the skirt. It needs to be floor-length IMHO.

And when you mentioned the Trooping The Colour, it made me wonder when Harry will be invested as a Knight of the Garter. There were rumors last year of it happening, but it didn't. I don't imagine it'd be this year either, as one would think it would be announced ahead of time. Perhaps it'll be soon, but you never know... Andrew and Edward weren't invested until 2006.

I recall reading that in Tudor times, there a fixed number of K o Gs, and new ones could not be invested until someone died. Anyone know when things changed?

There are separate categories, and only one section of that has a fixed number. Royal family members are in a different section (Supernumerary Knights and Ladies), and AFAIK, there is no limit there.

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_members_of_the_Order_of_the_Garter ) though, there is a vacancy in the main part of it.

24 is the number for the fixed category..
The vacancy can be filled at the pleasure of the sovereign.

I'm hearing that the Official Announcement of William and Catherine's Tour plans to Canada and the bop down to California will be tomorrow. W/the various little dribs and drops we've learned so far, I can't wait to hear where they're visiting during this trip. :D

Daily Mail ~ Royal reinvention no.2: Forty new outfits (but no ladies in waiting). How Kate's plotting to dazzle Hollywood (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1391703/Royal-reinvention-2-Forty-new-outfits-ladies-waiting--How-Kates-plotting-dazzle-Hollywood.html)

And this is interesting...

Daily Mail ~ Will Tim Henman make Kate Queen of Wimbledon? (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1391940/Will-Tim-Henman-make-Kate-Queen-Wimbledon.html)

It would be lovely to see a Senior Royal Lady in the Royal Box again on a regular basis at Wimbledon. Hope it's true!!

Oh and a shot upside the head to me. I forgot all about the Monaco Grand Prix today.

And this is beyond worrying...

Daily Mail ~ Edward and Sophie lose 1m police protection as Royal security costs are cut (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1391916/Edward-Sophie-lose-1m-police-protection-Royal-security-costs-cut.html)

I can understand some of the cuts wanting to be made, but *not* Anne, Andrew and Sophie and Edward. They are working Royals and the children/daughter in law of The Queen. W/all of the kooks out there right now, not to mention they're targets for any and all Terrorist organization, this is asking for trouble IMO.

I ran across this playlist on YouTube a few days ago, and thought some might be interested in watching it. It's a documentary about the Duke of Edinburgh (http://www.youtube.com/user/AngelEyesz89#g/c/57D3CD091849FF7B), broken up into 8 parts. I was skeptical at first, but it was actually really interesting.
