Is it just me or is Suzuki not as popular as the other Japanese skaters? I don't see her featuring in a lot of ice shows at all compared to Asada, Ando or even Murakami, even though she medalled at Worlds and won the WTT for the ladies.

As sweet as she seems to be, is it because of her looks? I know the Japanese can be very superficial that way in general.

I think she is beautiful.

But she looks like a grown-up.

But she looks like a grown-up.

She also sounds like a grown-up (I mean the tone of her voice). I was really surprised when I listened to her voice in one interview for a few minutes. I think based on her up-beat, often cute choreography I expected her to have one of those squeaky high voices lots of Japanese newswomen have. Or at least this hesitant shy girl-voice Mao speaks with. But Akiko has a very normal, grown-up sounding alto, I find that very refreshing.

Hanyu's 4t-3x is amazing but I was almost more amazed by this:

Lutz entry, counter turn into triple axel and it looks soooo easy. Gaspworthy!!

ETA: Has anyone ever attempted this before?
Midori Ito used to do it with a double axel in her SP.

Yet another show in Japan! Thanks for the info. Now we, fans, can only hope that Stephane will actually be able to perform in those shows, considering that he has eye problems now (although the diagnosis is still unclear).

Mao talked about her new programs today.

http://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2012/05/28/kiji/K20120528003346210.html

According to the article, she made new SP and EX in Canada (with Lori), and will go to Russia to make new FS (must be Tarasova).

Mao said new SP and EX is "very fun" and "uplifting" like a musical:)
