http://www.eurovision.tv/page/news?id=36573&_t=australia_has_voted_and_the_winner_is

Although Australia cannot vote in the actual Eurovision Song Contest, each year the public do televote to decide their winner and in 2011 there are some surprise results :-

Ireland 8350
Greece 7120
Serbia 4429
Bosnia & Herzegovina 4150
Moldova 3397
Hungary 2862
Sweden 2521
Denmark 2097
United Kingdom 1339
Ukraine 1338
25. Azerbaijan 245

So, Europe's winner is Australia's least favourite song of all.

why would someone do this?

I'm not sure about Fred but in Finland people always do it just in case there will be lightnings while you're away. Lightnings can break and destroy all your electronics if they're plugged. That's one of the things I remember momma already teaching us when we were young.

On the positive side, you're appreciated in Serbia, Slovakia and most of all the UK. :cheer2: I am sure all votes came from Scotland, Wales and Norn Iron :cheer:

Listening to the winning song now (the postcard, not the way it was sang at the actual competition) - it's not so bad... am shocked!:) Expected far worse from Azerbaijan!

Our neighbours are all so jealous of our great country that they refuse to reward us with any votes :PBring back Lys Assia! I saw on TV a few days ago and she actually said she's ready! :saint: ;)

Australia! :cheer2:

why would someone do this?

Because a friends of her's house burned down when something shorted. Except she left our rice cooker, kettle, telephone, extension cords etc all plugged in.

She had forgotten what I told her so she decided to do the opposite instead of you know texting or phoning me. Maybe it was her residual anger towards me. :P

I have to give her credit for the fact though she made it sound like she was doing me a favour.

Hanna, we don't really get very much lightning in Ireland. I only unplug stuff to save on electricity.

I never thought I would ever see something like this  :rollin:

Before the VIP gig, which preceded a speech by President Obama, they issued a typically zany quote, telling the BBC: ‘It's an honour to perform for the most famous man in the world, after Simon Cowell that is.’
:P

Jedward was the best entry for Ireland since Johnny Logan, IMO.
I wish them lots of luck! :)
