Glad to hear Danny is still skating. What about the brother/sister team from Indy? He had such a beautiful back pivot in the death spiral. David and Carly, I think.

Did you miss the discussion here on this topic last summer and fall? ;)

Landing side-by-side jumps cleanly is their main "weakness" but I did see improvement at Nationals practices in their 2A and they were rotating the 3T more often than not.

I vaguely remember that conversation after the Cranberry Open? And I do recall now that their one technical weakness were the SBS jumps. I also hope they can make that change soon.

Carly and David Powers (2007 Juvenile Pairs national champions) competed Novice Pairs at Indy Challenge last August but did not compete at Midwestern Sectionals. I don't know if one or both are still skating.

Thanks for posting the video of Donlan and Speroff. That throw triple at the end of the program may be one of the biggest in the world! I agree that their sbs jumps held them back at Nationals, but they were certainly much improved over earlier in the season. Lets hope that they have continued to work hard on them in the off season.

With Y/C and D/B out of the mix next year at Nationals, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Donlan/Speroff make a run for the podium. They've improved so much in such a short period of time!

D/S are so lovely. They have such star power, especially her. I love their lines.

I just love them! As such, I'm sure they'll break up within a year. :shuffle:

I was checking the protocols of D/S at '11 Nats. It looks like they went for SBS 3toes and SBS 2x's in the LP and didn't fall, which is an improvement for them technically. I never saw videos of their Nats performances and couldn't find them on youtube.

From the pairs FS thread at Nationals:

Gretchan Donlan & Andrew Speroff, SC of Boston/Broadmoor SC

3Twist, nice
3T, landed but timing was off
Press lift from diff. entry-star lift-carry lift, really good
2A, she falls
CCoSp3
Gretch needs a longer dress...
3STh, totally massive!
FIDS, lovely
Lasso lift
3LTh, huge!
Lift w/ one arm exit
ChSp1, great position from both
PCoSp3?

Nice job! Their throws are amazing.

To be honest, I wasn't a fan of their "Stairway to Heaven" FS. I'm hoping they come up with something less muzak-y this season to show off their strengths even better. Something like "La Bayadere" would highlight both their lyrical qualities and showcase their stunning throws and lifts.

I thought they skated to Stairway to Heaven.

Donlan/Speroff's FS music for the past 2 seasons was "Stairway to Heaven." I was moved by their classical "Moonlight Sonata" SP performance at Nationals (also the second year they skated to it) and thought they really did the music justice in Greensboro.

That's what Icenetwork is for. ;) However, it IS a shame that non-subscribers miss out on seeing a lot of wonderful competitive performances at US Regionals/Sectionals/Nationals if they don't happen to make it to youtube.

reese, have some faith! :) It's not the goal of all promising US pairs to split up just to cause fans grief.

I've been given permission to mention that Nick Anderson is once again looking for a partner. If anyone knows of someone looking who could match him, they should get in contact asap. He is on the shorter side for a pairs man, but he get's the job done.

^ Jayar, what level is he looking to compete at? Is he willing to move and where is he based now?

Nick Anderson is Junior level (he's 20 and going into his final season of ISU Junior eligibility). Link to his profile on icepartnersearch: http://icepartnersearch.com/showbio.php?i=3209

True, but I thought 'why pay for it when I can see it on NBC for free', but I didn't realize they'd only show the final group. :(
