I've posted the following in the U.S. Sectionals thread in Kiss and Cry, but for those who don't have access:

There's no fill-up rule to Nationals, so the top 4 Junior pairs (out of 6) will qualify out of Easterns, 3 from Mids (the 4th team of Powers/Powers have WD) and 3 from Pacific Coasts (2 teams are competing and Denney/Frazier have elected not to compete), plus the 2 byed teams of Simpson/Blackmer and Calalang/Sidhu.

That adds up to 12 Junior Pairs at Nationals.

Mary Beth Marley and Rockne Brubaker did an interview at the Irvine Spectrum shopping center, where they have an outdoor rink. They answer some basic questions about themselves and demo a FIDS and a pair spin. It's pretty cheesy, but it's nice to see them getting some press.

Thanks for the link! They both did a nice job with the interview and the skating too. I do love this team, and I love their coaches Meno and Sand (Nicks was coaching them too, but is more part-time now with them?)

Donlan and Speroff scored 52.51 in the s/p and 100 points in the LP. SP was clean, great 3twist, lift and Throw triple. No triple jumps in the s/p program, but they nailed sbs 3 toes in the warmup. In the long they had a fall on the 3Loop throw which was huge and I think she singled the axel. Again they landed 3 toes in the 5 minute warmup and sbs DA combo. The twist, lifts, and throw 3 salchow were all beautiful. Really hope they can start landing the jumps in the programs, but they definitely can land them.

^ The only thing keeping D/S from being major players are the SBS jumps. It's as if they have a mental block about them :(

Well I'm very encouraged to see how much better D/S skated overall at Easterns than when I last saw them compete in September. Hope they are encouraged, too!

^Sylvia, do you know the top scores for US pairs this season [you probably do]? I thought you did a list a while back. I know E/L and D/C are in the 170s and M/B are around 160, but I didn't keep up with the scores

:)

Donlan and Speroff landed sbs 3toes in the s/p warmup and Easterns and sbs 3toes and DA combo in the long program warmup. All were well executed. It did not appear that they even tried the sbs 3toes in either program. They did the DA combo, she singled. It looks like the mental block appears to be when they put the jumps in their programs, not the jumps themselves. Hopefully landing them in the warmup is a step in the right direction. IIRC by nationals last year they did land them in their programs at nationals, although not perfectly.

Hopefully they can continue to build their confidence over time, because everything else is sooo good.
