Just watched E/L's LP at Cup of China. WOW! I really loved it. They did some amazing elements but unfortunately they still have jumping issues. I really hope they build upon this performance and have a strong showing at Nationals.

They tend to improve as the season goes along so I think they'll be in great shape come US Nats in January. Amanda isn't being downgraded for her 3T so that's a step in the right direction! She just needs to land it better now. I love both of their programs and can't wait to see them skate again during TEB. :biggrinbo

BTW-Castelli & Shnapir debut at NHK this coming week. :)

I am warming to E/L. They skate 'bigger' than in the past.

I have a feeling that IF they are clean on the SBS jumps, the judges will crown them National Champs, but I think they need to be clean to get past D/C. It's a shame they can't be more ambitious on the SBS jumps - even a 2x-2x seq. (let alone a 3sal or something) would garner more points - because that is probably their achilles heel technically. They do everything else rather competitively with the top teams, but I think it is what she is able to manage.

Evora & Ladwig should make up some of the SBS jump points deficit on their lifts though (compared to Denny & Coughlin or Marley & Brubaker). Both their SP and FS are vastly superior to D/C in terms of choreography, construction, transitions and artistry, and I hope that's rewarded at Nationals.

They used to do a 3S in both their SP and LP and they would either get downgrades, one would fall, or it would be a combo of both which would kill their scores even more. In a weird twist of irony, switching to the 3T has made them much better with their jumps although they still have some issues from time to time. They went completely clean on all their jumps at this past US Nats and the previous year, they went relatively clean with the jumps at US Nats, the Olympics, and Worlds so I know they can do it. Their 2A used to be a nemesis for them too but they seem to have that way more consistent so it's good for me to only be worrying about their 3T now, LOL

I just re-watched E/L's LP from CoC and wow I'm impressed!! The lifts are amazing and they have good speed (to my eye). I hope they win at Nationals this season!! :cheer:

Had a chance to see Poapst/Knierim's FS from Ice Challenge. Yikes on the mistakes (falls on the two throws, Chris falling right before the sbs spin, thus losing the element), but wow, do they ever have what it takes to be a great pair. They have the best triple twist of all our US pairs, imo, she just flies. They skated to Swan Lake here and it's a good program to show off their beautiful line together. They definitely need more speed and power yet but I hope they continue to improve together and gain more confidence. Just a lovely, lovely pair and I'll be excited to follow their career.

I absolutely agree,
He would throw his first partner so high that the crowd would gasp....

There was once a clip on YouTube a few years ago of a practice quad twist by Brynn Carman/Chris Knierim.

Is Brynn still skating? I think she was flirting with ice dance? That might be the right fit for her; I don't know if she'll ever get the jumps required for elite pairs.

Still so bummed that Donlan/Speroff don't have a Senior B! Excited to see them at Sectionals and really hope they win there.

The last I heard, Brynn was planning to try ice dance. She looked very tall at Nationals --probably 5' 6" or so. Pair skating didn't seem viable anymore (to me, at least).

I think Poapts/Knierim need to really work in their throw technique. They have some nice qualities, but their throw technique is so awful that it's really jarring.
