I've heard that Knierim is not injured and he should be fine in due time.

ETA: I just noticed that Kloe Bautista/Tyler Harris are registered to compete in the Senior Pairs SP at Cranberry Open this coming week. The 3 Senior pairs scheduled for both SP and FS are Castelli/Shnapir, Donlan/Speroff, and Felicia Zhang/Nate Bartholomay (who are training in Florida now).

Good. Another opportunity for C/S to work out the kinks. I'm also glad that D/S are committing to competing a lot this summer as well

Bautista/Harris might be doing the Junior short at Cranberry - not sure - they were the only Junior pair team registered.

Saw a tweet this morning from fsonline that Chris Knierim had his appendix removed. Wishing Chris a quick recovery!

Thanks for figuring out that list, 2sk8! And others for chiming in on how Junior pairs may pan out across the sections. Looks like there's enough flexibility between partner's home clubs that the distribution should be fairly even, especially if in fact the coaches are talking.

Sorry to hear the news of Chris's appendix ordeal! Ug. Hopefully they caught it before it burst -- that can be quite an ordeal. Best recovery to him!

Killing time on my lunch break, I noticed the Grand Prix selections for this fall have been updated: http://www.isu.org/vsite/vnavsite/page/directory/0,10853,4844-136494-137802-nav-list,00.html

Denney/Coughlin have been assigned to NHK Trophy.

Yay! They will almost certainly get Skate America, as well.

Question - Are M/B and C/S high enough on the substitution list to reasonably be in line for another GP assignment should anyone else withdraw? Also, will M/B's score at Nebelhorn help them at all for assignments in the upcoming season?

It seems if we are going by SB score, the alternate list is basically:

1. Denney/Coughlin
2. Lawrence/Swiegers
3. Gerboldt/Enbert
4. Castelli/Shnapir
5. Stolbova/Klimov
6. Zhang/Wang
7. Marley/Brubaker

Not sure if Dube/Wolfe would factor as returning skaters (she wasn't at Worlds last season)

So I definitely think its possible for C/S and M/B to get a second spot. I don't think M/B's Nebelhorn score will change anything.

Ok We know Brandon Frazer is now skating with HD. What ever happened to Mandy Garza. I thought she was talented and had good potential?

Anyone know whats happening with the Senior Level?

I don't think at this point there are enough U.S. Senior teams to be concerned about anyone not qualifying through Sectionals.

We only have:

Andrews/LeDuc
Cain/Reagan
Castelli/Shnapir
Davis/Leftheris
Denney/Coughlin
Donlan/Speroff
Evora/Ladwig
Marley/Brubaker
Poapst/Knierim
Vise/Baldwin
Zhang/Bartholomay

Those are the only teams which have competed this summer (with the exception of Evora/Ladwig).

No rumors of Caitlin having a partner, and the deadline to enter the qualifying competitions is Sept. 1. Tomorrow. Everyone else has split, retired, or is searching for a partner...

Given their Grand Prix Assignments, I assume that Castelli/Shnapir (NHK), Denney/Coughlin (NHK), Evora/Ladwig (FRA), and Cain/Reagan (RUS) will all receive byes from Sectionals. That only leaves 7 of the teams list above to compete across the three sectionals.

Given there are only about 11 teams right now... and at least one is likely to be injured/split by Nationals... it concerns me that based on the 2012 U.S. Nationals schedule posted at http://www.skatesanjose2012.com/, that groups 1 & 2 of Senior Pairs are scheduled to compete Saturday evening, and groups 3 & 4 are scheduled to compete on Sunday afternoon. Ug! I hope they were anticipating 16 teams when they made that schedule. With only 11, that's two flights of 4 skaters each, and one flight of 3 skaters. I sure would hope they can make the time to let all 10 or 11 pairs compete on Saturday evening.

Top 5 at 2011 Nationals - Evora/Ladwig (2), Marley/Brubaker (4), Castelli/Shnapir (5) - all have byes to 2012 Nationals. They don't need Grand Prix assignments to go through.

Last I heard, Alexa Scimeca & Ivan Dimitrov (they had to withdraw from the Senior Pairs event at 2011 Nationals) are still together and training in Simsbury, CT.

ETA on 9/1: There will be a Senior Pairs event at the Middle Atlantics club competition in NYC in mid-September and 3 US teams are entered: Castelli/Shnapir, Donlan/Speroff, and Kloe Bautista (All Year FSC) / Tyler Harris (SC of Boston) who could compete Senior out of Easterns or Pacific Coasts.

Projected Senior Pairs at Sectionals (some may elect not to compete if there are 4 or fewer teams):
Donlan/Speroff E
Scimeca/Dimitrov E
Zhang/Bartholomay E
Andrews/LeDuc M
Poapst/Knierim M
Vise/Baldwin M or P
Davis/Leftheris P
Bautista/Harris P or E (competed Junior this summer)
