Colin Grafton has written a new journal entry before Indy Challenge that talks about their successful Liberty competition: http://everythingfigureskating.com/prosCorner/2011/07/27/season-in-full-swing/

ETA:
Here are quotes from Grafton, Kylie Duarte and Taylor Toth at the end of an Icenetwork article that was published yesterday (link is posted in this post in the US JGP thread: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3248707&postcount=51 ):

At the debut of their [Duarte/Grafton's] Dr. Zhivago free skate at Liberty, the team hit two triple throws -- the loop and Salchow -- as well as side-by-side triple toe combinations and side-by-side triple Salchows. The technical content was a big uptick from the 2011 U.S. Championships, where they placed seventh in junior pairs.

Duarte, 18, and Grafton, 19, credit their new maturity to their more than ten years of togetherness. "We know each other so well," Grafton said. "We know what to expect when we're under pressure, compared to newer teams."
...
"We want to make the Junior Grand Prix Final this year, and we want to go to junior worlds and skate well," Duarte said. "Last season, we were the first alternates for both of those events. This season, we want to be on the podium at both. And, of course, we want to win the U.S. junior title."

In other pairs news, Taylor Toth, who won the 2010 U.S. junior title with former partner Felicia Zhang -- now skating with Nate Bartholomay -- is looking for a new pairs partner.

"I'm having try outs, and it's going well, but nothing set in stone yet," he said. "I'm definitely willing to move any where for the right situation."

Just curious, is there any news of MBM/Brubaker? Was surprised they were not at Indy Challenge.

They're registered for Senior Pairs (exhibition) at the Glacier Falls club competition in Anaheim, CA next week. The Senior Grand Prix skaters are not required to compete in the summer but they have to show their programs at Champs Camp in late August.

Pic of Mary Beth & Rockne from Glacier Falls: MBMB. (http://www.goldenskate.com/2011/08/2011-glacier-falls-summer-classic/) (near the end of the article)

I think she looks a little older, but it could be the hair/makeup. I guess I don't get the "coach skating with his student" vibe from them like some others do.

Is it too soon to start brainstorming on which Junior pairs may be entering which Sectionals?

There doesn't appear to be any internationals competitions scheduled that might allow for some byes, now that Junior GP Final is part of the senior GP Final.

With over 20+ US pairs teams at the Junior level, some sections could be quite competitive. Even though for many pairs one partner's home club is in a different section than their partner's home club... it's not clear which pairs will end up in which section.

It's pretty hard to figure out so early. About a week before the Sept. 1 deadline most teams will be making their decisions. One thing you can probably count on is that Dalilah will spread her teams out across 2-3 sections to maximize their chances of all going to Nationals. As you saw at Indy, her junior teams all scored well so they probably can pick wherever they want to go and be fairly certain they'll make the top 4 in a Section. Those teams with Pacific memberships are quite likely to skate at Pacifics if their other choices (Mids or Easterns) are crowded. Usually the top pair coaches talk to each other and ask who's going where.

Well, it might be early, but for fun, we could take Sylvia's list of results from Indy Pairs & see what clubs were listed for the skaters there. This will tell which Pairs have no choice of Section, and which do, unless there was an unlisted home club change.

Wow. They look good and confident thru the elements, especially her! They executed the SBS 3t's but I couldn't tell if they rotated OK ....

Oh no! I like Poapst and Knierim. I hope Chris isn't severely injured. :(

I've heard that Knierim is not injured and he should be fine in due time.

ETA: I just noticed that Kloe Bautista/Tyler Harris are registered to compete in the Senior Pairs SP at Cranberry Open this coming week. The 3 Senior pairs scheduled for both SP and FS are Castelli/Shnapir, Donlan/Speroff, and Felicia Zhang/Nate Bartholomay (who are training in Florida now).
